Well actually, I wrote BMW Canada today asked for production number for 1M and also color specific numbers, and got this answer:

Dear Mr.xxx:

Thank you for contacting BMW Canada. We appreciate your interest and enthusiasm for our vehicles and we hope you are enjoying your 2011 BMW M1 Coupe.

Unfortunately, it is BMW Canada's policy not to release production figures for our BMW models. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience.

If you require additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1-800-3000-BMW, or e-mail us at customer.service@bmw.ca.

Sincerely,
BMW Canada

What a stupid policy...

An engraved trim ring aound the start button that is engraved with "One 1M of 740" or something along those lines would be nice.

This would be along the lines of the "Year One of the 1" engraved trim rings on the first year of the 1 series.

These things may sell for an added premium on the private market now.

If you look at it from a population perspective the 1 M is still more exclusive in the US. As Rikx1M previously mentioned 1 in roughly 423000 people own a 1 M in the US. Based on Canada's population of 34,605,346 people and 223 units that means 1 in 155180 people own a 1 M in Canada.

I was planning on driving my car, now I'll have to park it and take the E90 M3 instead. I think 400 miles is too many already in 4 months.

100 miles a month? Go out and drive your car. It truly would not be money well spent if the car is a garage queen, not to mention it is much better for the seals if the car is driven.

To my understanding the USA will no longer get any 1M deliveries on our dealership lots, but I still think you could purchase one through BMW USA.

I went to the BMW USA website and saw that you could still build your 1M coupe. With that said, ED still a possible option.

The web site doesn't mean a thing, it probably will be updated soon. If the US production is terminated, then there can not be another way of getting this car to US legally anymore including the ED, if there are still available ones belonging to that 740 it is an other story, at least on paper. I am sure there will be other and better informed people than me on US procedures who will confirm in detail why you can't.
