Installing JB4 N55!! Need HELP Please :)

Hi Guys and Girls,

As title per say I need help to install a jb4 on a N55 135 e82 DCT.

Just wondering can anyone give a fellow member a hand with jb4 on N55. I can do N54 jb4 no problem but it's the N55 that I dare not touch and have no experiance in it.

Located in Chatswood. But I can come to you, Whichever is easier.

It cant be that different to the n54 is it? I did it myself with no mechanical experience whatsoever and a fair amount of trepidation, but turns out it was super easy by following the bms instructions. Probably took me an hour and a half the first time?

With the jb4 on n54 it's only the ECU box that we touch but apparently on the n55 you have to pull it to the other side because the jb4 was initially for left hand drive only but australia are RHD there an extra wire needs to be attached in order for it to work.

Can you help me ?? I'll bring beer

Opps just realise your in PERTH!! lol

It's very different from the N54. Primarily because there's no ECU in the ECU box on the N55. BMW moved it to the side of the engine block where tuners can't get at it.

If you open the ECU box on an N55 you will just find a bunch of wiring looms passing through it and a fusebox.

The N55 JB4 connects to various sensors in the engine bay and needs to tap into power and a couple of the wires in the loom passing through the ECU box. It's not particularly difficult but it is fiddly and VERY different from the N54.

If you haven't already done so, remember to cut the diode on the board and update the ISO at the same time (you need to install it first of course) so you don't have to get back into it later...

I found the ISO much smoother than the HEX firmware.

Hey Harlequin, you have some experience with the n55 JB4 eh? I am considering grabbing one for my 12' 135i. Would you recommend installing my self or would there be somewhere in Brisbane I could take it that you know of? Cheers.

Apart from the first time when I had a bit of help from a fellow forum member, I always installed/removed it myself.
