DIY Request: (H3) Cornering lights install

Hey Guys,

I purchased the H8 bulbs for the rings and the H3 bulbs for the Cornering lights. I installed the H8 bulbs without any issue but I can not find where the H3 bulbs go.

Has anyone installed them yet? Pictures of where they are hiding would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon:w00t:

It's in the manual. There at the top of the headlight. Tight squeeze, but no special tricks. Check your manual to verify the exact location.

I did read the manual but I was wondering if anyone had a trick. I don't want to break anything and it looks like the way I see to get in there can cause some damage to the little cover if you are not careful.

It is a very tight squeeze. I could not even get that little cover off at the top. You must have to remove stuff before:iono:

I guess I will just bite the bullet and try it out again tonight.

Curious. What do you mean by cornering lights? Is this part of the adaptive headlamp system?

No tricks. Pop out the one side and then slide the cover a bit and give it a wiggle. lol.. Just give it a shot. You don't have to remove anything else. I just did mine last week. Good luck.

Yes, please clarify. Post pics if you can. Also, the side marker bulbs, is there any write up on how to change them?

The real question is can we wire the turning lights to the euro fog light switch and turn them both on as a extra set of lights instead of what the do now.

so does the rear fog lights come on the US models standard? so that you can use the euro style switch to turn them on?

the rears yes you just need to pick the switch up. Andy from leatherz stocks them. The 128 switch also has a front fog light switch as well. That was the one i was referring too

Those things are hard as hell to replace. Why did they have to put that huge plastic overhang there? It seems like it is there ONLY to make it near impossible to replace those bulbs! >

Can anyone explain to me how to replace the H3 cornering bulb. I find the manual a little confusing.

The manual says to push the lugs to the side with a screw driver...which lugs?

Here are some pics of the area I'm talking about. Which piece is the one you are meant to remove?

thanks aussie, I can't work out what the retaining clip is. There just doesn't seem to be anything there that looks like it will unclip...

I'll just try and pry it off. Cheers

harpoon- The pictures you posted do not look like the pictures that AussieRacer posted. If you look at Aussies' pictures you can see that there are little "tabs" on the side of that clip. In your pictrures it looks much different.

Are all of the headlight housings the same?:iono:

harpoon do you have adaptive headlights? If not, there won't be any cornering light bulbs to replace.

Hi all,
I am new to the forum. I am trying to replace the h3 cornering bulbs but I have the same problem explained by harpoon. Do you know how to proceed?

Thanks,
Enrico

If you guys means by "cornering light" the front flashers (orange)...

I did as follow:
- jack the front end (to have more room)
- there is a trap in the car front wing (above the tire/front end)
- open the trap with a flat screw driver
- there is like the "ass of an arrow" in plastic
- you need to unscrew it (like a fraction of a turn, maybe 1/8 of a turn)
- pull it out
- your light bulb is in it
- you need to push it a little as you turn it about 1/8 of a turn to free it

Installation suggestion...
Turn the lights on (seems like if you turn the plastic "ass of an arrow" holder, it might over shoot and will not light up. So by doing it with the lights on, you will be sure it is ok.

For the lights in the sealed beam, I did replaced one once. There is a trap behind the head lights. It is held in place by to metal clips. So you just have to flip the 2 clips and open the trap.
