Radar Detector and/or Laser Jammer Suggestions

What detectors do the majority of you use?
I'm in Michigan, where both radar detectors and laser jammers are legal to own and operate (radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states); and I plan to pick up a detector once I get my 330i.

I know the V1 is extremely popular; but are there any other quality detectors out there? Also, does anyone have any experience with laser jammers?

The ESCORT Passport 8500 X50 is also a good one.

I am hoping to install the K40 Bluetooth system soon. Check some recent posts for details.

active radar jammers seem to work... but they're illegal in the entire U.S. (I'm not going to take that risk).
passive radar jammers don't work.
laser jammers work and are also legal (in most of the U.S.)

I have a Passport 8500 X50 (Blue). It has saved me several times.

The blue LED version retails for about $330. Don't buy one from eBay or any other auction site and be wary of any online store selling them. Make sure they are authorized.

this is very true as there are many fakes being sold at a discounted price.

I've installed the Escort Shifter laser jammer on my vehicle. Works everytime.
Though you need to make sure the diodes are aligned properly.

Also, I'm not sure if radar jammers do exist ( if exist, really work? )...they're normally reserved for military use.

Are you going to do the install yourself?

Also, why are you selling your Dad's if you needed one?

I have the BEL RX65 radar detector, is exactly the same as the escort but this one talks and have KU band that is goign to be use in the US soon,

about the M20 I don't have one, but for now I had Veil coating it works great, http://www.radarbusters.com/products/coatings/veil.asp

the reason that I don't get a M20 and my radar had become obsolete is b/c now in the turnpike here in miami they don't use radar detectors or laser gun

now they mark the road point A to point B and there is a plane or a helicopter and went you pass they time you, and they are able to calculate your speed and then there is cop wating for you on the other side of the hill

but I notice that they only use that on the turnpike and mostly on weakends, so besides that my radar works great

I have to say that is a cool install of the smart cord. Care to share how you did it?

Smile

I had it done at custom electronics installer. The smart cord from Escort is $30 and has the regular mute button on one end and the other goes directly to a fuse or other power source (12V outlet). In my case, both of the detectors were wired to a 12V power source because it was in a convenient location so they are therefore hooked up directly to the battery. When the car goes on, they go on. It ran me $125/ car to do a custom install which isn't too bad at all considering it took them about 3 hours. It's great not having the wire in the way anymore too.

I have Rocky Mountain and it's THE BEST!!! 180degree scrambler.. don't just buy a radar detector... buy a jammer... they come with VG2 protection that does not let the cop detect your jammer... it's awesome!! I have tested it...

Escorts sucks! they don't make jammers... they are plain detectors... no protection at all!!!

first off, radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states. Laser jammers are legal however they don't help you out with radar detection. If you want a radar detector either the Escort X50 or V1 is the best bet. The ultimate combo would be an Escort X50 + a laser jammer. Then you're golden.

Exactly why my first post was for both a radar detector AND a laser jammer.

Sounds like the Escort and the V1 are the best... and deciding between the two seems to just be a personal preference.

I found this site pretty informative.

I'm leaning towards the Blinder X-treme myself.
