Wow talk about a markup on the price. I can get the m3 for the price their asking for.

But who'd want it? I've never liked the looks of the 3 series ... too stretched.

The 3 series also has a wider stance, fenders, is lower with more headroom among other benefits. The 3 series isnt more expensive compared to the 1er for no reason

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

Wrong all around:

1) The 1M has a track equally as wide as the M3, however because it's a smaller car it looks even wider than the M3; not to mention those flared fenders that make the 1M look muscular and the M3 anorexic.

2) The 1M does not have a sunroof and the slanting/slope of the roof is less pronounced than that of the M3, therefore the 1M offers more head room - check out the owner threads with plenty of drivers who are way over 6 ft in height and not a single complaint.

3) Lastly, M3 = dime a dozen, 1M = 800-1000 for the US only...yes, people are willing to pay for a piece of history in the making. It is an outstanding purist/enthusiast car, something that cannot be said about the current e92 M3 - it's grown too large and too heavy. I do respect the car though - its got an amazing power plant that growls, and it is an attractive car; however, between the 2, it's always the 1M for me every single time.

Compared to what some dealers in CA have been doing, this can barely be considered a "markup". A fully loaded 1M goes for a little over $54k MSRP.

Why would I want to pay 54k for a car when I can get a 08 135i with the same engine for around 30k then take the extra 24k and spend it in performance upgrades. Your paying for the M logo not whats inside of it.

Yeah, I can vouch for that...I saw a 1M at WheelSTO the other day. Pics don't do it justice, it appears to be wider in person and simply amazing. I always wanted an M3 but now I might prefer a 1M.

Even though I didnt make it evident in my last post, I was comparing the 3 series to the 1er (135i), not the 1M.

Read the entire thread plus the title and you'll understand ... also, the 1M is an e82 1-series BMW just as much as the M3 is an e92 3-series BMW.

Listen to what I said and YOU will understand. Yes i strayed a bit from the threads topic with one sentence, regardless what I meant was there are quite a lot of pros with the 3 series over the 1 series which is why there is a raise in expense. I am speaking of the 135-335 comparison, NO M. So YES the 3 is wider, lower, with more room, etc. My points were valid, you just didnt recognize which models I was actually speaking of. Yes I know the 1M is wider than both, etc.

I certainly understand...very clearly actually...it just seems to me you just realized how out of topic you were and have a need to rationalize your out-of-place reply. Again, please refer to the thread's title

Great and pissing match going on here, gents. This is almost more entertaining than the end of the Mayweather-Ortiz fight yesterday.

Seriously Newton BMW, $57,300 and the reserve still hasn't been met?

The 1M looks good but I don't care how it looks. I dislike F/I cars, I'll take that anorexic slim looking high reving m3 v8 over a 1M. However I'll admit that the m3 is bloated and the 1M comes in the perfect size.
