I have had thoughts about moving into a M2 but it's not the right time for me do so, maybe in a year or two.
I have had zero issues with the car since purchase (other than the two destroyed rims this winter from all the pot holes, etc. up here in the northeast. Damn run flats.) Have only made a few cosmetic "upgrades"; all black grilles, upgraded angel eyes, carbon fiber diffuser, black spoiler, and mud flaps. As for performance upgrades I bit the bullet when Dinan was running their 50% off sale and went with Stage 2. Still haven't had an opportunity to put it to the test but it's nice knowing it's there when I do get that chance. I plan on holding off on other performance upgrades until either a) the car is paid off (sometime this year", or b) I purchase another car which will then become my DD. I would like to eventually do a complete suspension upgrade if I plan on keeping the car for another 4-5 year and not move onto a M2/3.
Would love to do a meetup in the NY/North East area sometime this summer. I have only seen 2 other "is" in the past 4 years. One convertible in VA (owned by by cousins wife's mother) and another white coupe in Stamford CT.
Great update! Glad you are still kicking and enjoying the beast!

Haha what a bunch of amateurs! but hey at least they were honest. Find a better place.

While RFTs are a bit more difficult to work with, a reasonably skilled and equipped tire shop will do it without damaging the rims.

I will shop around a little more. Love my poor man's M2 and think some grippier non-runflats will help with handling.

I went to Costco to have my runcraps taken off and PSS's put on. They proceeded to damage all four wheels. I was pissed as the guy didn't even say anything to me when I picked them up. I inspected the first wheel and noticed it right away. My heart sank and I told myself...surely they wouldn't keep doing what they were doing on the other 3. Sure enough all 4 were damaged. The wheels were pristine going in.

They had to do an internal incident report which went up to their insurance company. Ended up having my dealer using their contracted wheel repair guy fix all four at the cost of almost $700. The insurance company cut a check for the full amount. I did ask the claims adjuster if I wasn't happy with the repair would they pay for new wheels. The adjuster said yes. I could have been a dick about it but decided to accept the repair. The wheels look almost as good as new after the repair. There is only one spot on one of the wheels which if you know where to look is not fixed to as new condition. But you have to look really hard for it.

So next time, no....saving the money to have a shop which now in hind sight doesn't know what they're doing is not worth it. I don't know if I'll go back to Costco again with those wheels if I need to have new tires put on again; even though the hard work is now done in getting the run craps off.

Ugh, exactly what I want to avoid. I guess I just go to the dealer for peace of mind.

The costcos here wouldn't even touch a car with runflats that wanted to switch to non-runflats.

Heck, I'm not even sure how much I trust the dealer to actually not scratch up the beautiful 313s, but at least they're in the best position to make things right if they mess up.

But, I have serious wheel paranoia as well after a couple got scratched up a few years ago, and it's certainly a pain to get those runflats off. When I put my PSS on when I got the car, I literally told the guy that if there's one scratch on those wheels, I would kill him. I think he thought I was kidding. But, I researched tons of places to find a good one, which was randomly an America's Tire 15 miles from me.

Check the local forums though, perhaps bmwcca recommended shops, or even check to see who the dinan-authorized independent shops are. Might want to find a good high-end shop who is used to dealing with really expensive wheels like BBS and HRE's and what have you, such that some $350-400 313s are like turds to them, though gems and the end all be all to us. Then threaten them, too. =)

I will also ask the Dinan shop that installed my tune. Good recommendation. Curious question, do the 19" 313s fit on the 135?

I've only seen one person do it over the years, and some may have liked the look, but it didn't look right to me. You might be able to dig up the pic, it was a white 135 I remember...might have even been in australia or europe. The offsets though don't work and they're so concave, they look really weird on the E82. A few years ago someone a few houses down had a 335is with the 19's that I'd walk by almost every day, and after seeing the E82 18" 313s and then seeing how concave the 19's are on the E92, I don't really like them as much. The extra curvature seems to fit the body lines of the E92 better, but eh. I'd stick with the 18's as it probably won't be worth the major effort to get those 19's to work and work right.

You might be better off just lowering your car a hair to make the wheels appear a little bigger. =) I'd ask that dinan shop if they can still get the dinan springs, too. 3002 tii had them on his 135is a few years ago and they lower the car 0.5" compared to the 0.4" for the bmw performance springs, but they stopped selling them awhile back. They were also a pretty blue.

Hope that helps and nobody better f' up your 313s! I'd also warn you though, that going to the PSS or non runflats does tend to expose the other weak points of the suspension, or at least seems to make them more apparent. Tis a slipper slope!

19" 313's been done on E82 many times, it's pretty popular in europe. It's possible, but you can't have a lowered car AND run properly sized PSS tires, i.e. 225/245.

What you could do in order to fit them is to retrofit e9x rear hubs which give you additional 10mm clearance. There's a thread about this on here.

I've fitted and removed RFT tires myself in the past, it can be done without damaging anything...

I have now bought tires from Tire Rack a couple of times and had them shipped to my BMW dealer directly, then gone in there to get the tires installed. Assuming your dealer will work with you on that, this is an economical way to go rather than to Costco.

I agree. I have been a long time client with my dealer and they are always willing to give me pretty decent discounts.

I noticed there's a somewhat large electrical plug that isn't connected near the passenger side headlight in the engine bay. Do you 135is guys have the same thing?

Went by my local BMW dealer and they didn't think anything of it. Had someone mention it was supposed to be connected to a fan?

Soooo weird and took me a minute to realize, why doesn't there seem to be an impact point/hole in the wall.

I was going to say, the rears look fine and people can call dibs, but then I noticed they are the 313s with the BMW PERFORMANCE writing on them. Pass.

Congrats on a great car and welcome. Not exactly sure what color your paint is. Is it Carbon Black? What's the interior color?

That's a beautiful color!
