I had a similar problem when I installed my BMS OCC on my N55. The engine cover didn't fit on properly because the new PCV hoses were too big. My engine cover ended up propping my oil cap open and oil may have over-spilled while driving. I ended up trimming the engine cover to make the hoses fit.

Pull the downpipes off and check the lines and turbo seals for leaks, outside of that it could be your oil filter housing gasket, valve cover, or just a noisy PCV valve that’s blowing by oil. Are you guys completely catless? If so, get used to some smoke/smell. Unless your N54 is absolutely pristine from an oil management standpoint, it’s going to eat/burn/leak some oil IMO.
