E82 vs. F22 side profiles...

are very very similar. the proportions are pretty much identical too, barring some slight tweaks. It's kind of funny to read the 2er forums and see people saying that it's proportioned so much better than the 1er......as from where i'm seeing, these cars are virtually identical in proportion. The 2 has a much 'softer' design.....more mainstream and less creative. The 1 had a more 'old school' approach with straight lines and sharp corners.

all in all...they are VERY similar. the 2 still looks like a 'reskinned' E82. It is funny to watch the 2-series forum pretend like it's some sort of a revolution....LOL. where have they been since 2008 and before?

i really hate the rounded front end of the new car...looks like a 5-series! gah...

I hate the back end and the front end. Too much change. Mass market appeal. People thought the "1" meant cheap entry level while the "3" was wowowow. Not the case. The 1-series sold for more than the 3 series.

I think all the new BMW's are starting to look more like Audis and in the case of the 4 series Honda Accord coupes. The distinctive look of a BMW is disappearing. But the real deal killer is the electric assist power steering.

I think the 2's headlights and tail lights looks substantially better. I like the 1's front end better, as with the rear. The 2 wins from the side i think though. I'll wait to see if there an M2 coming before i make any moves anyway.

I've always thought the Merc ^ is just hideous. It has an awful body shape and reminds me of a turtle's shell from mario kart.

However, the 2's front end front a frontal view looks great and sharp, albeit just like the f30 and f10. I Love how nothing looks like the 1er, even if it is a bit funky and pignosed. I dig it.

The 2 looks great from the front but doesn't excite me from any other aspect

You should post up these profile pictures in the 2er forum and see how they react. I'm sure it will be interesting.

i would....however the 2er forum seems to be overrun by E9X owners who seem to lambast the 1er and pretend as if the 2er is some sort of magical saviour.....not realising that it's a continuation of what the E82 was in the first place....but without the uniqueness, IMO. Whenever a 1er owner says something, they get labeled as a jealous hater...which couldn't be further from the truth! ha. i actually expedited my car shopping JUST to get one of the last E82s in the country on purpose before the 2er got introduced!

i think 3-series owners love the 2er, because it shares some of the more generic design attributes of the 3-series and the family line.

EDIT: i posted it over there...didn't say anything though. let's see what they think!

The 1er has a better rear overall. I think it's more about how the F22's butt is just ugly rather than the E82's rear being gorgeous
The 2er has a better headlights and front EXCEPT for that stupid popping out grill design. Still, I'm happy they didn't do the headlight -> grill thing with the F30/32.
The side profile: I prefer the 2er's rear sloping window while I like the E82's from the front end til the shark fin.

I wouldn't give up my 135is for this M235i (although it's pretty good). I've gotta say that if I had an M235i, I don't see myself giving that up for a 135is...well, I gotta give the M235i some diffuser change and a little drop.

The first reply to your post over there proves your point completely. It's funny and sad at the same time.

i love almost every aspect about the e82... not sure i can say the same about the f22
the only thing that look good about it is the front end from front view, nothing will ever compare to the back end of our 1ers

They got rid of the pot belly look of 1er, which is a distinguishing feature from most cars on the road.
