i got my catless downpipes ceramic coated (zircotec uk) to keep the temps down.
havent fitted them yet but cooler (engine bay temps) egt's can only be a good thing. Last edited by octainejunkee; 08-31-2012 at 06:51 AM.. |

wrapping or coating would result in higher egt's not lower since it keeps the heat in the pipe, resulting in lower engine bay temps. Negligible performance gains since it's post turbo.

Subie guys used to wrap the headers to maintain higher EGT's since the headers are long (boxer layout issue), but that shouldn't be an issue on our cars. I don't think wrapping the downpipes would do much, except ambient engine bay temps as already mentioned.

well il post my dd graph when fitted and we'l see if evolve think the ceramic paint made an improvement.
il be happy if the only benefit is that the airfilter gets cooler air from the lower engine bay temps. |
