07:49 min lap time of the Ring. Looks like our tour guide had his Ring lap times off some!

I found this too... this was not from our tour... but still very cool! We should have asked our guide to fire up the Beast!

I think our "Führer" , was more in Classic Cars over the Sport/Race Cars

the Driver of the first Video is Hans Joachim Stuck ( ), the absolute "cool Cat" besides Walther Röhrl





Just a few Things he said:

- Top Speed at the Ring -> 309km/h (one in a lifetime experience)
- not Bad for a Car with over 2 Tons
- 4 month build
- 3 Times more HP of a normal X5 without getting the Standart Chassis restructured

Apparently BMW needs more room for their FIZ (R&D Center) to expand... so BMW Classic has moved(I do not know where) and the old building was torn down today.

I think this is very sad of BMW to do this. The old buildings should be protected and preserved as historical landmarks.

Yea... we had such an awesome tour at BMW Classic a few years back. So much WIN in these three floors of BMW history. Especially that top floor with EVERY winning BMW in it!!!


Btw... I was "told" that the building was "closed" because of the risk of collapse. I would love to know where BMW moved it and when they will offer tours again for the BMW faithfull!

Not many people realize that this convertible concept is what led to the e8x coupe & vert....

I remember seeing it unveiled on the German evening news in 1999 and thinking what is BMW thinking!?!? Little did I know I would end up owning one! lol

Marco looks like we will have to wait a few YEARS! Yes, I said years!! I sent BMW Classic an email and asked why and where the new BMW Classic is located. Here is the email I got back from them...

Dear Mr Dackel,

Thank you for your email.

At the moment it is not possible to visit the BMW Classic because the department is split and distributed over several buildings with the vehicle collection stored away and not accessible to the public.

However this will be only a temporary measure and we expect to get a new building during the next years. Currently we cannot say when and where this will be, but you can be sure that it will be communicated through the usual channels including the BMW Classic website.

I'm afraid that's all I can say at the moment.

They should (somehow) fit the BMW Classic & the MUSEUM together and show the Cars to everybody.

Yes, I agree Marco. Its kind of a shame they make us pay 200 euros to come see their "secret museum" ie BMW Classic. And now the entire BMW Classic collection is at a "undisclosed location". lol

I think it would be cool IF BMW were to have a more intensive collection of cars on display(somewhere) for us Bimmer Addicts. I guess we will have to wait a few years and see what BMW builds to replace the old building.

Marco you did not hear? A few years ago BMW bought back the property they once owned, but sold it to Knorr-Bremse Group after WWII. BMW will move BMW Classic into this location sometime next year. Its just up the street from the Welt!
