Upgrading Trans Oil cooler
Hi guys,
I cracked my Trans Oil heater exchange. I am looking at upgrading this to an actual aired Oil cooler instead of the coolant water exchange. They make a ton of kits for the newer m3/m4 but ecs also sells a universal Trans Oil cooler. Should be pretty easy to mount eithe in front of the intercooler or behind. I have done a ton of google searches and haven't been able to find anyone who has done this. Anyone done this before or have any thoughts?? Thanks!! this should also make it so you don't have to remove the belly pan to take off the exchange to tan the fan out. So working in it will be a lot easier. |

You can use any cooler you feel comfortable with.
But, You will have more predictable performance if you shoot for a stable trans temp. About 190*F is a safe target. You'll want adapter fittings to go from the factory trans lines to *insert choice of fitting style here*. I bought adapter fitting from Black Market Parts (you need 2) --> http://www.bm-parts.com/index.php?ro...&product_id=59 You should also use a thermostat. This is the recommended one --> http://www.improvedracing.com/oil-th...65f-p-423.html Then whatever you wish as a the cooler. Some good pics here --> http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1297436 You'll also want to buy the coolant crossover pipe from the manual trans 1er. PN 17127548229 |

It's done for you and I. I still have to buy the rest of the parts for my install. This way I can find my thoughts later, I'm bad at putting pen to paper, this solves that. |
