Where do you guys buy your oil?

My BMW center (Jerez, Spain) wants to charge me 33 euro per liter for oil. My on-base auto shop doesn't carry a BMW-approved oil. To my knowledge, oil can't be shipped overseas (otherwise I'd just order from Tischer and call it a day). Any ideas on sourcing oil that will meet BMW-approval without costing me an arm and a leg?

I buy mine thru AAFES. Both the on-base car care center and the PX sells Mobil-1 (0w40)in the black label. UPC #07192444962. I paid $6.49 per quart - just the other day. Have them order you some. You will need seven quarts but I would order more IF they do not stock it. Six quarts come in a case. Same UPC number. Is there another base near by that you can call or check with?

The APO military mail system DOES ship oil. At least I have ordered and recieved oil thru the mail before! I think WE can not send it though... but you can recieve it! Kind of like cigerettes and some other banned things. We can not mail those things from here, but we can recieve them! lol

Do the bases in Spain use a VAT form? Where you go to MWR and pay a small fee for a form that gets us out of paying the local taxes. Here in Germany the tax is 19% and a form costs $4 each. When I buy my auto parts I use them. I get the best price that way. For instance... for a 5liter jug of Costrol Edge RS (Bmw LL-4) the oil sells for 75 euros. But I can buy it for 50 euros with one of those forms - at this place (Stahlgube). You could asked at your local dealer what the price would be with one of these forms?

Or... just go the mail order route from the states.

I had considered trying to do a special order through the exchange - thanks for the UPC code on the Mobil 1. We go through NEX, not AAFES, but I'm pretty sure they can order the same stuff.

So you've mail ordered oil before? I tried Amazon for the Mobil 1, but they won't ship outside the US, and the Tischer website says they won't ship oil outside the US, either. Who'd you order from? And thanks for the info...

Years ago I bought some RedLine gear oil(MTL and some D4-ATF oil) for my e36 323i. I ordered it from a shop in Baltimore, Md. I was his very first APO order! lol But I had no problems getting it. Don't forget who ever send you the stuff needs to fill out a customs form!

What about asking Dan@United BMW parts? Or... just have the oil mailed to a freind or family member in the states - and then can send it to you. There are also some stores in the states that "sling" state side orders to APO's. Because we all know how lazy(& SLOW!) our family members are in sending stuff to us! lol

You can try Target or Walmart, PepBoys, NAPA websites to see IF them ship to APOs?

IF you realy can not find some I can always send you some.
