different color roundels
I just ordered some red roundel covers to change the good ol' blue and white to red and white. I think it matches my coral red interior and new shadowline grille. I might be a bit of a color coordination freak though, for some reason the blue and red and black just look ugly to me.. I'm just wondering what other people's opinions on colored roundels are? Desecration of the BMW badge? Cool idea? Don't really care? You won't really change my mind, I've already ordered, and to me it isn't like adding an M-Badge and pretending the car something it's not, im just curious?
There ARE some just plain weird options (wood roundels???): http://www.bimmian.com/ROU/82

I was torn between black and red for a while. I just wanted a bit more contrast on the outside, as I plan to debadge when I'm sticking the red on. CF should look nice though , but I'd only get it in black, the CF red just seems too much

Someone else here did the red on black/coral and I think it looks great. Over the summer I saw someone else with the wood and that looked sharp too. These decals are pretty simple and inexpensive so no biggie either way. I would be more interested in genuine CF.

I avoided the whole question by buying a blue car to match the factory roundels

Oooh also, forgot to mention. The roundel overlays that come from Bimmian are NOT specific to the 1er. I had to use my best judgeent for the hood roundel. Off the top of my head, I can't recall which one off of the sticker sheet I used. But, I will check tonight, when I get home.

To each his own - if you like it, go for it.
Technically, the Red ones are close to authentic - for the BMWs produced in East Germany after the war (WWII that is.) The Eisenach factory wound up in the East, and they just continued making cars with blue & white roundels and BMW on them. The real BMW challenged them, and forced them to change the name to Eisenach Motor Works, the roundel to red & white, and put EMW on the roundel. After the wall came down BMW reclaimed the factory. Enough for the History lesson - now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Have Fun, Rick

There are also twice as many wedges as you need, so if you mess up you can always try again. They even recommend to do the wheels first because with 4 wheel stickers, you get 8 extra wedges and can really get the hang of it and afford to fudge it up at first.
