FTR, that is the ONLY badge I have EVER left on any of my cars. It just fit the car. It was clean, tasteful, in the right place, looked like it belonged, and wasn't designed by some dilwad that thought chrome was the answer. I did debadge all the dealership crap that was on the car.

Sadly most are buying the badge. I plan to order the next ///M3 variant and will debadge it (with exception to the license frame.)

As an enthusiast ibuy the performance and not the badge.

I would the same when I get a m car I would debadge the rear and the badge on the side sill. I don't like badges in general espescially if they are not symmetrical! (only one badge on one side of the car, must be an OCD thing...)

I have to disagree with the debadging... If you debadge a lower trim, you are probably hiding the fact you have a lower trim. Why is it d-baggery to debadge the more expensive, faster trim?

I have my 135i debadged. It's not to pretend I have something better than I have (like puting an ///M badge on a non-M). If people want to assume I have a 128i, then they can. I did it because it looks cleaner, adds more mystery and surprise when I get on it and show its true potential. Most people don't even know what a 135i is.

Please explain to me why it is d-baggery to debadge the higher trim models?

Btw... I definitely agree that anyone puting an ///M badge on a non-M is a poser and should be driven off the road.

SOME - NOT ALL.

My point was that not everyone who debadges is doing so for the right reasons - and conversely - not everyone who adds an ///M is doing so for the wrong reasons.

Either way - its your car - you're the only one who has to like how it looks.

Ok, sorry about that. Many of the posts here are saying that debadging is only done for one reason, but you are right, different people have different reasons.

The wannabe comment wasn't directed to you but another quote in my post. Someone stated that debadging is only done by wannabes.

+1 though honestly it wouldn't piss me off much because at the end of the day that fake M doesn't have the parts or history that make it an M.

I disagree with those who say debadging a lower car is poser. It is about symmetry. The little things make a clean car look cleaner.

I agree with debadging an M car too, but I would personally probably keep it, because there is a joy you get by seeing it on your own car (I imagine).

So, symmetry isnt as important to you when it comes to the joy of keeping the M on. Unbalanced is fine then. Only on lesser cars is it an issue. OK then.

I know this is talking about the badges but what if a car has M colored stipes, similar to the LeMans cars? Would that be in the same realm as debadging or adding an ///M badge?

I completely disagree with an M badge on a non-M vehicle. Unless.....it has "extensive" mods, has the M badge followed by "Killer". That might be the only exception but still tacky for a BMW.

As far as de-badging, I have debadged several cars, both my EVO IX and X, and my old STI back in 04'. With the STI, I even went as far as swapping the big wing for the regular WRX wing. Even though you can still tell it's an STI to some....most thought it was a regular WRX.

Yo went to Baylor also. M colored stripes are saying the same as the M badge IMO. Those 3 colors are unique to M not BMW. BMW has their own performance division "BMW Performance"

When I bought my 84 528e a few years ago, the guy I got it from stuck an M badge right in front of the 528e on the trunk. I promptly removed it when I got home. To me it seems like you are a poser and don't know what BMWs are all about.

ignorance is a bliss.

1M is 6000$ more than base 135

Comes with MORE standard shits than base 135

For 6 thousand bucks you won't get an LSD, suspension and wheels on a 135.
Funny how you're comparing loaded vs base.

Personally I don't mind the steering wheel one, and I don't have one on the shifter since it's DCT, but the door sills seem kinda over-the-top. Almost wish I'd opted for the over-priced lighted BMW-logo door sills.

Only one thing worse than adding an M badge - is adding yet more of the same

Saw this today, had to share. My condolences to whomever owns this car - beautiful stock and then you gotta fook it up with something just worthy of a Civic that's a decade old. Real cheap.

There's always some fool who thinks it's a great idea, but it used to be much worse before BMW produced a real 1M. Now only the jokers and truly stupid do it.
