Yes, you are correct on that. I meant the shape of the contact patch. You do not want a wide cp, but a skinny cp to punch thru the snow. There is a reason why BMW recommends a 205 tire for winter.

The only car I've seen BMW recommend a 245 snow/winter tire is on, is the 5er GT with the V8tt engine.

Exactly, now if only somebody would build a 195/55/17!

Speaking of tires... have you guys seen the new Pirelli/Conti tire that has a foam pad ridding along the inside of the carcass to reduce noise. It will be used first on the Audi RS7 and RS6 cars as an OE tire.

A 195/55/16 will fit on a 7.0" rim.
