Ready to purchase ultra low mileage 135i - need advice

What's up everyone! I've been lurking this forum for a while now and I'm ready to purchase. I found a 2009 135i with super low mileage...so low that I was concerned. The car literally has less than 700 miles on it! The story behind it is the owner died and the wife didn't know how to drive a manual. She would ask her neighbors every weekend to drive the car around just so the motor was good. Dealership provided me with the service documents and it looks like the oil has been changed twice already. I took it on a test drive the other day and it fired up nice. Looks brand new inside and out and even runs like a brand new car. My only concern is that it's obviously out of warranty and the car is sold as is. Is there anything I should check before purchasing it? Any seals, gaskets, hoses, fluids etc I should have replaced before I go ahead with the purchase? Thanks for the help!

Private sale or dealer?
If dealer, is it a BMW dealer?
Whose name is on title?
Dealer paperwork should show that recalls have been done.
Should of had 4 oil changes, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
Should of had 2 brake fluid flushes.
Find a good BMW indy mechanic and have him inspect it.

Thanks for the reply! It is not a bmw dealership. It's a dealership that handles mostly exotic cars and in all honesty the bmw looked out of place (of course not in my eyes LOL) But i do have the service records. It only had two oil changes and the latest was 5 months ago along with brake fluid change and 27 point inspection. It does not show any paperwork of stating recalls...but i'm assuming i can have this done at my dealership for free since it is a recall after all right? Thanks

That is unusual, I would hope everything looks brand new, it really is!

How much are they selling it for?

Yes, that's right. There is no time limit on recall work. They never expire. Also... it doesn't matter if your the first or tenth owner - a bmw dealer is required to perform the recall work, free of charge. Just call a dealer with the VIN. They can tell you which IF any recalls are open on the car.

Best of Luck on the purchase. Sounds like a nice car. Please post some pics for us too.

Dackel

PS: I think the first thing I would do is change the oil and filter again. They drive the car for 1K miles and change it one more time.

Congrats on the find. That is seriously low mileage. I hope you had it inspected from bumper to bumper and top to bottom if it's just been sitting around that much.

Black and white too. Good color combo.

The BMW dealer the lady went to did a 27 point inspection, replaced oil and brake fluid...this was done about 4 months ago so i'm hoping everything is good.

Called up the dealership and according to them all of the recalls have been already done to the car. I'm going to be picking it up today.

The reason this car never resold is probably because of the options...

It doesn't have Sport Package (a must), Leather, and comes with some off chrome wheels that were probably a dealer option.

hmm from what i can gather the sport package has better interior pieces and better suspension? Believe me i'm not going to keep things stock anyway. This is the car i ended up selling to get the 135i. In the looks department this car was way better but performance wise it's nowhere close to the 135i.

found my first issue with the car. Found out that the tail lights aren't working. Checked and looks like there was a recall on them. Called up the dealership close to my house but because supposedly the issue was already addressed they won't cover the problem since it's already out of warranty. I guess this is my opportunity to purchase some LCI blacklines and hopefully that will alleviate the problem.

The sport package came with a different suspension, different seats, different wheels and tires. Look at a sport package car and you can see and feel the differences when you drive it.

Check out ecstuning.com for anything you may need; they have great prices.

The sport package had the same suspension, wheels and tires on a 2009. Differences will be no shadowline trim, no sport seats, no m steering wheel, and on his manual, no m shifter. No mechanical differences though.

The car in the link above has sport pack? I could have sworn all sport pack cars came with sport seats. That's the first time I see that.

No, you're right, that car does NOT have the sports package, I was just listing what it then doesn't have, though I may have written it too quickly. You were just a hair off though on what the sports package did include on a 2009, that's all as it didn't have any impact on the suspension or wheels.

IF the tail lights were replaced less than two years ago... they can still be covered under a "parts" warranty(2 years no mileage limit). You just need to original repair order with the date and miles.

Or just get Blacklines. The look of the Blacklines is really nice/subtle.
