any interest in CF roof?

was wondering if any 1 series owners would be interested in doing there roof in CF? spoke with a company and they would be interested in making a mold for the 1 series as long as there is interest. since if they were to do it for one car, it would be expensive and not worth it.
just thought i would throw it out there to see if anyone would want to change there roof to cf. the headliner will be changed, and you will loose the sunroof. so you will save some weight too. no clue on price, i guess it depends on how many people would actually be interested in doing it. so dont quote me on anything.

I'd be in!

i need at least 10 guys interested so i can get pricing towards the cf roof. it is expensive to design the mold for it. so that is why i trying to see if there is enough interest so it can cost a bit less for each of us.

Does this include actually cutting out the stock roof and replacing it or is it just a wrap?

this is actually cutting out the stock roof, removing the sunroof and replacing it wit a cf roof. and the headliner will have to be replaced since you no longer have a sunroof.

Our E82 roofs are actually "bolt-on" and spot-welded in. Spot welds are located above the front windshield and back glass, 4-5 welds at each location. BMW used a poly-urethane for weather proofing.

I would rather see a cf piece that replaces the sunroof glass but maintains the sunroof functionality.

Untouchable, you know I've been interested in a real cf roof for the longest time. I'm in but you know I got a sunroof. I don't really want to lose that bro, I paid money to actually get it and I love having it.

I'd be in for it if the price was reasonable and the vendor could show weight of the stock vs weight of their unit (and of course, CF unit has to weigh less than the stock unit). I could go either way on the sunroof.

Yes...in a world of bad and illegitimate Carbon Fibre Venders one needs to watch out for these types of fraud... :cough cough:

Just on a side note could this guy of yours also manufacture CF hard tops for us vert owners in winter environments? Similar to what the S2K guys have?

Randomquickness, I saw a cf sunroof replacement for sale over a year ago. Haven't seen one since.

On the CF roof, I'd love to have one if the total including install was in the $2k range including install and it saved 100lbs or so. I doubt it would do either, especially be in that price range.

A carbon fiber roof with a sunroof makes NO sense. It's like ordering a salad because you're on a diet, and than covering the whole thing in cheese and half a bottle of ranch dressing (not that people don't do that).
