Front sensors installation cost

hi guys

I bought my first 1 series recently , loving it to death great car.

however, ... the car only has rear parking sensors.

I asked the dealer, how much would it cost to get original front sensors installed since I thought all you need is the sensors and plug them into the iDrive unit (I've got he satnad lcd thingie).

He quoted me the following:

PDC Kit $249.37
PDC Sensor $2006.40
Labour $1450.00

Total to fit front PDC $3705.77.

Is this correct ? for just front sensors ? if yes, thats madness!

Sounds about right if quoted from dealer.
Welcome to the world of BMW. Anything can be had for a price.

If you are set / serious on having the front sensors then it would be better to source the parts from overseas and then having independant BMW specialist do the install.

FYI having it installed from factory is a $700 option. Seems crazy that now it would be almost 4k! The labour charge seems a bit much.

yeah , thats what I thought ... they listed front and rear sensors as an option for $500 ...

I cant believe how expensive it is ...

is there a third party front sensor that can be installed on this car and that would integrate with the iDrive system in the car? or can I only use BMW?
