WANTED: Performance Steering wheel with LED shift lights & display
I had my eye on the Performance Steering wheel with the shift lights and display at the top and was planning on getting it this spring after my rims, fmic, dp and giac tuning, just to find out they no longer offer it. It might be different up in Canada, as we can also not get the performance seats either. I also heard rumors of a new electronic steering wheel with the shift LEDs and display but not sure if its for sure. So if there isnt a new one I am looking to buy a used one in great shape. Brand new to the forum so i apologize if it takes me some time to figure it out. |

There is a new one coming out soon. And do your homework on it - the revised installation instructions from BMW (for the original version) require a new angle sensor, I believe, and call for several hours of installation time. It's not a cheap install.

I previously installed the steering wheel myself on my 135i - didn't need a new sensor, it was plug and play. Installation does require wiring and all the parts are included, but will take some time. Took me about 3 hours.

I believe BMW's revised install instructions call for a new sensor. Could be just a precaution, but you never know.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, like i said brand new to this forum today. Whats the difference of the new wheel to the old one? when is it supposed to be out and how much? If theres no big difference ill pick up the one that gleung has. Just curious, why are you selling it?

It is 100% compatible - the buttons have nothing to do with the steering wheel, they transfer right over just like the regular buttons on a 135i. Look for the thread of the guy who got the black 1M with a bunch of performance parts on it already, one of the them is the steering wheel you have. I'm also waiting for my 1M, but I sold my performance steering wheel months ago when BMW announced the revised version.
