Tuning Potential?

Just reading that Proceed is fully compatible with the 335is but there is no gain over the standard 335i.

Is the 1M and the 335is powerplant the same?

Based on everything I have read and heard, the powerplant is identical. It is possible, but unlikely, that there are slight differences in the ecu programming.

Neil
Those differences in the ECU tuning could possibly make it less tuneable?

As hinted the turbos might be a slight bit different, so that might require some tweaking.

I also get the sense that BMW is going to have more anti-tuning measures with the 1M/N54.

I'd be (pleasantly) shocked if you can just pnp a JB.

Anythings tunable with time and since it's an N54 it'll probably just need a special map with the procede or new JB4.

Perhaps not even that if, as I suspect, the tune is identical to the Z4.

I'm have no official sources but I can only assume the extra power coming out of the "is" model and 1M model is an increase in boost, tuning if you will.

So if you run the same PnP setup with the same amount of boost (135 @ 14psi, 1M at 14psi) you will have the same HP between the two.

Of course, this is speculation.

1M and 335is versions of the N54 are not the same. 1M appears to share the same engine as the Z4 35is. The version in the 335is is slightly lower on HP (320 vs 332).

It doesn't ... until you add "Powered by BMW M" to the valve cover.
