Corporate program - technology pack
Hey guys,
To those of you who have received their sat nav via the corporate program technology pack offer, can you please tell me what brand and model number it is? Is it any good? Also, with the free ipod cable that comes with it -- is that the same one that bmw sell for around $120? Cheers |

There is freebie from cooperate program when you order from Oct 1 to Dec 31 2008.
I ordered on 27 December and I got to choose from Technology pack (portable sat nav from BMW - looks like Garmin but not sure), ipod cable), Golf pack (set of golf clubs), or travel packs (lots of bags).

Hey Takahashi, are you certain the Golf pack contains the actual golf clubs. My dealer has told me otherwise. He said it only contains the golf bag (no clubs) and a few balls, umbrella. If you know for sure that the golf bag does contain the clubs I will pick that pack instaed of technology pack as I already have pro nav in my car. |

I am not a golfer so I don't even look at the details. I doubt it is a full or even half set if you think it is similar value to the technology or travel packs. I had a glance of the picture and did not read the fine prints. I thought I saw one drive...
The portable sat nav costs over $1000 install from BMW (if you really want to buy it).

takahashi, what do you mean by "install" of the portable sat nav? I would have thought that this is just a portable nav that gets stuck on the windscreen with a suction cap mount? |

I asked that question many times to the dealer that what does the portable nav looks like and can anyone see it.
they gave me that sort of picture and ensure me that when the unit is detached, passby cannot see there has been a Sat Nav unlike the suction cup mark. There is also some wiring, presumably connecting to the audio unit or bluetooth unit, I dunno

I actually opted for the golf pack. I already have a portable sat nav (and ipod connector) and saw 'value' in the golfing accessories.
If you don't play golf then the tech pack is the best option. |

i've found a link with all the info -- i assume they will be giving the same one as on this:
http://www.zercustoms.com/news/BMW-N...-Portable.html it's based on the Garmin 360, the BMW logo lights when switched on, mp3 and bluetooth integration, not suction cap mounted, worth 476 Euros... better than what i was expecting!!! |

I got my Kit installed on 12th and confirm it is installed exactly like the pics shown here in this thread, no bodgie wiring or bracket mounts, all was professionally installed and looks very neat and clean (ps: it is a Garmin 360 with BMW logo/branding and software)

Thanks. I have a nuvi for my previous car and loved it. I can put up the custon POI that I put together for all the possible mobile and speed/red cameras, but for Victorians that will be every other 2nd street. They are real data published by legal authorities and legally passed around. Someone sold it in a CD too.
kingtut1970, does the audio come from the Garmin unit itself or from the audio system in the car??

POI for Garmin Nuvi
I have made a list of mobile and fix camera and school zones for Garmin back in 2007. The zip file is attached.
You need a POI uploader for it. http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ Then upload the following csv files. Disclaimer: They are not the complete list. The list is made mid 2007 and some data is missing. For Victorian the location of Eastlink and extra hume hwy cameras are not added for instance. Interstate users please notes a lot of points are repeated and please adjust this with your excel program. I will keep searching for more updating POIs and adjust them... coz the wording is very long and cannot easily read.
