'12 135i arrived...love it...need bike rack; ideas?

Hi everyone. I am new to the group as I just took delivery of my 12 Space Grey135i.

The specs...every option on the buy sheet (M-sport,Nav,BMW Apps,Premium-2,Harmon,DCT,Heated seats).

I love it so far. I am stuck on bike racks. I can't use the roof racks because I always park in a garage and don't want to have to take the bike off every day (I ride daily). I wanted to get a hitch but I cannot find one for a 2012.

Searched the forum and cannot find anything besides the Saris Bones 2 or Thule 2 trunk racks. Has anyone found a hitch for the 2012 model?

Thanks all!

Can't help you with your rack questions but wanted to say congrats. It looks great, love the color.

I would bet that the hitch for the earlier models will fit a 2012. I think this is true because I don't think anything significant has changed. I think Curtis is the manufacturer, you could try talking to them or maybe asking etrailer or one of the other on line sources for the hitch. At most, you would be out the cost of the shipping if it did not fit (plus your time in trying it).

It did not used to say it fit 128i either but somebody tried it and it did.

Great idea...Thanks! I called them and you are right, they haven't confirmed fitment yet. Looks like that is my solution; just try it and see what happens.

Nice. My TT bike doesn't fit in the truck. Decided to go with a hitch and Thule hitch mounted rack. Should be in this week and then install time before IMWI!

Good luck at IMWI. I'll be working the eyeglasses table at the swim exit. Great place to catch the action.

Curt hitch...30 minutes...awesome.

Thanks to all the input! Curt confirmed they never tested the hitch on the 2012 model so I did. Below is my recap. IMWI...here I come.

Ordered my hitch at:
http://www.thehitchstore.com/class-1...84-p-1989.html

The 2011 fits perfectly on my 2012. Followed the directions:
1) removed screws holding on difuser
2) pulled off difuser
3) mounted hitch, (not sandwiched), bolted down with 19mm socket
4) put difuser back on, re-install difuser screws
5) cut out plastic center piece and reinstalled

No vibrations. 30 minutes. Fits perfect. Thule 4 place bike rack installed. I love it! No bikes near or on my car. No garage height issues. Truck accessible.

Happy 2012 135i owner.

I just put my bike in the trunk with the rear seats down. It fits perfectly with the front wheel off.

I also have a 1 series tower rack with two mounts. I use that when I drive to a ride with my girl friend.

Happy 128i owner.

I still prefered the roof rack over hitch mounted.

I have had both and I agree a roof rack looks better, but with my hitch mount rack I never have to worry about height restrictions (i.e. parking garages, my house's garage, low bridges, etc.).. so the functionality of the hitch mounted rack is far better - hitch is also easier to load.
