Detailers scratched my windshield

Had the car cleaned on Saturday and noticed two, deep horizontal scratches near the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side. Looks like something like a ring or watch just dug right into it. I know they weren't there before because I keep the car in immaculate condition and even the slightest scratch drives me crazy.

Guess I'm venting because I'm bringing it in tomorrow and doubt they'll accept responsibility. Glass probably has to be replaced. Doesn't look like something that could be buffed out.

That sucks man but least it wasn't your baby's paint .. I'd be angry as well and if they would like to keep your business they should eat the bill and show they are professional...if not put that company's name all over this blog and let others in your area what they've done ....keep us posted like to hear how it turns out

Ugh, sorry to hear that... Is the scratch on the outside or inside of the windshield?

Inside, near where glass meets dash.

Is there anyway to fixing that without replacing the whole windshield?

Just have your windshield replaced via your ins coverage. Glass is covered on comp claim and can not count against your record. Plus in most states it is a zero deductible.

Ack, nasty place for a scratch... Given the location, it's pretty much impossible to buff out or fix other than a total replacement.

Well I'm an IDIOT. It wasn't a scratch. It was cleaning residue that dried hard and looked/felt like a scratch. A little bit of nail polish remover melted it right off.

DOH!

BTW Dackelone, you're right. I keep forgetting I have comprehensive insurance.

LOL, you lucked out.

Though using nail polish remover (acetone) was a bit risky: any spill or contact with any plastics and the solution would've been worse than the problem.

Yea, they put some on a cotton pad and it literally melted the glue. Then cleaned the entire glass.
