Anyone on Long Island have an error code reading cable? HALP!!
Last night I went for a drive and when I got back on my street (a kinda long straightaway) I punched it in Sport mode (I have an auto). Outta nowhere I got SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. I put it in regular Drive and limped into my driveway. About 30 seconds later the SES light disappeared. Turned the car on/off and it did not reappear.
So, I would LOVE if someone on Long Island had a cable to read the code. If I understand correctly, there is a JB4 cable that can read the code as well (I have JB4 installed but do not have this cable). I have had this car since 2010 and this is about the 5th time that a malfunction message appeared while doing some slightly aggressive driving. All the other times, the engine went into "Limp mode" but never a SES light. And the limp mode always went away after engine restart. FWIW, I just had the walnut blasting service done about 2 weeks ago. |

Another member told me I could read codes on the dash with JB4, I had no idea I could do that.
http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11495 So I followed that, and it told me there are no error codes... No error codes even though I had a SES light, hmm... Is it possible the results could be different if I use the cable?? |

This is basically what you need...http://burgertuning.com/scanner.html
Buy it then split the cable with 2 others to offset the costs and they can borrow at will. Thats what me and a fellow 1addict do. I use 2 Vins off the license, he uses 1.

With the JB4 you can read error codes with the steering wheel controls to display the error codes in your dash. However, I did this and it said I had no error codes. I am going to now use the JB4 cable to USB (laptop) method to make sure that there are no errors.

Gotcha. Sorry not familiar with the JB4. The Cobb itself has a screen so you just hook it up to the ODB port and scan.
