E-Brake Warning

Left work in a hurry yesterday and got a few miles down the road and noticed that my emergency brake was still about half way engaged.

Am I imagining things or is there supposed to be an audible warning when you start to drive with this still engaged?

Yes, there is a DONG when you drive with the e-brake on... just like when your trunk is left open and you drive. You get that "!" lamp and the DONG!
