Need Opinions on Solid Engine and Transmission Mounts
Hey guys,
I've been contemplating getting solid engine and transmission mounts for the N54 but I have yet to find any clear opinions on them or any product/brand recommendations for that matter. I used to have Boomba solid (billet) engine mounts on my '08 Civic Si before and I absolutely loved the connected feeling to the engine. So, do any of you have engine and or solid transmission mounts for the e82? Would engine AND transmission mounts made for the e9X (non M) fit on the e82? Any good recommendations? How does the car feel with them? |

Subscribed. Did stiffer tranny mounts, but used the E46/M3 mounts. Really helped with sloppy shifts on the track. Been thinking about stiffer engine mounts, not solid mounts though ...

Sure it will. Personally, I think it is overrated though. : I'm pretty sure the vibrations from a naturally balanced inline 6 engine are much less than those from an inline 4. Speaking of which, on the Civic Si, I absolutely LOVED the aluminum engine mounts. First time I started the car I freaked out! Ha! POOOC POC POC POC BRRRROOOOOOMMM. Plus, that thing revved to 9000 rpm and it was fun as hell. I'm sure the N54 won't be as bad as the 4 cylinder vtec lol. So far, I found one brand that makes the engine mounts: Motiv Motorsports. Still looking for actual solid transmission mounts... EDIT: uucmotorwerks sells transmission mounts! yay! Last edited by user2688; 06-28-2015 at 06:42 PM.. |

I have the race tranny mounts with enforcer cups...I also have AKG solid motor mounts. It increases noise at idle....not too much vibration. I daily drive my car....when I added that stage 2+ and alum flywheel....the gear rattle at idle is really loud. I think its due to the motor mounts...but I don't knowfor sure because i had the mounts before hand.
When I turn on the A/C....thats when you feel a vibration / even worse gear rattle from the lightweight flywheel. Once you are moving and not at idle....you don't even notice a difference. Until you are at WOT / shifting. I hated the feel of this tranny (I had a V8 Audi S4 with full shift kit installed). Now its not too bad, good even. Engine is a bit louder with engine mounts too I think. I like them....if I weren't into racing my car around so much I would probably get rid of them for comfort. If that were my concern though I'd be in an M5 and not a 1.

I have stage 1 BFI engine and tranny mounts for my 2008 MKV Golf, 2.5L inline 5 engine. It shook the car like CRAZY, but oh my goodness did it feel so responsive and like a race car. Coupled with full exhaust, tune, intake, suspension, sway bar and bushings... felt so much 'tighter' than the 135i
