Need Sticky Road Legal Tyres
Need your help.
Unfortunately the BMW Sport suspension now on the car has highlighted the shortcomings of the standard run flats. I need to get these in the next few days, I am looking for road Legal, sticky tyres and seek your recommendations. Happy to go up in width to 225*40/R18 and 255*35/R18. Mileage is not a concern. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mike.... |

Hi Mike,
As far as road legal goes I would say go one of the following. These tyres are almost semi slick in nature RE01R's AD07's Dunlop Z1's Those new Dunlop Z1 Star specs seem the business. Either that or go for semi slicks .. |

Only problem with the Star specs is that you have to order it from the US. Let me throw another 2 in the mix:
Kumho KU36 (it's very new so not even on their website) Toyo R1R As for semi-slicks, you will have trouble with the size. Front would be ok but you won't find that rear size. |

I'd suggest contacting Gill @tirerack.com. Great service and he knows his tires. U can do a search in the forum for all his comments, info, etc. I don't think he is allowed to plug here, you have to go the tire area. You can pm though. Also we are starting winter here, so I bet every tire person is super duper busy. I bet he pays for his 135 in like 2 weeks of winter tires. LOL (a joke)

I haven't tried R1R myself yet, but it is one of those in-between tyres just like Star Spec, KU36 and RE01R. But I have read that they are pretty good. For drifting lol.

I've tried the Yoko AD07's the RE01Rs and the Dunlop Star Specs... Not only are the Star Specs cheaper, they are a better tire in almost all respects, IMO. Slightly stickier than the others, no noticable tramlining, and wear amazingly well their sticky attributes. On the slightly downside is that they are a tiny bit louder on the highway. Although, Yoko AD07s get really loud when they are beyond their halfway point.

I would rather wait then getting the R1R. Listen to larryn, any of the 3 he picked is ok. I will get Potenza RE11 and guess what http://www.bridgestone.co.jp/tire/po...re11/size.html 225/45 R18 F and 255/35 R18 R.... ali matsu...
