Ok, that make sense as we knew the 1 was a touch higher. Funny the difference that one little letter in front of "eight" makes when you do not pay enough attention.

So this car has the DSC/DTC which can be turned on/off via a button, and the "E-diff" function which is fixed and cannot be overridden? (If I read that right...the language could have been better polished.)

Correct, but it only becomes active when both the standard DTC and DSC are disabled.

I can't see a need to disable, if it remotely does what it says it does... which is to try to immitate a conventional LSD.

This new eLSD seems to simply be DTC (which normally applies brakes to spinning wheel plus shutting down the fuel injectors), minus the killing throttle part.

That's how I read it as well... and further, the e-diff isn't in effect unless DSC/DTC is disabled. That's definitely new news.

and this is because dsc will not let you get to the point where non lsd and lsd becomes apparent.

Sure, it makes perfect sense in the narrative we finally got. There had been a serious dearth of info before this, though.

Any idea when the E82 will show up in online BMW ETK Parts?

It's already on http://bmwtis.com

I know AndyM had a 24 hours subscription a while ago, and got a bunch of part numbers. I don;t know when there will be a ETK/TIS downloadable version of it, as they seem to have moved to that online subscription database, in lieu of having to burn thousands of cds every quarter and distribute them.

The free one, Larry, the FREE one! I've used RealOEM.com and was hoping for it to show up there. Oh well. :iono:

They only work when the headlight switch is set on the 'automatic' mode. The interactive portion is disabled if you simply turn the switch to "on". I found that out about a month after I had the car (no as a matter of fact, I did NOT read the manual...).

Don't know if this is the case for you or not but thought I would throw it out there.
