Bird $#!%

Ok so yesterday I wake up and there is bird shit on my trunk. Funny thing is I friggin garage keep my 135i. Which means that it happened the night before I completely missed it. Now it sat on my car for a good 14-18 hours. Washed it off and gave the car a wash. My detailing kit has not come in and I noticed even after washing you can still see the mark where the dumb bird left it's excrement.

Anything I can do to remove it before it becomes permanent?

claybar will not work....it's for imprefection embedded into the surface....

the poop can (has) etch into the clear coat and paint...

you will need to detail the car and if possible use a orbital buffer and do it in stages....

cleaner wax..polsiher...wax...

Bug guts can etch your paint as well. After driving the thing I remove the splattered critters just as soon as possible. The other day, some Oregon critter crapped on the hood, was 6 hours before I could address the ick, damage done, slightly etched JB.

Wax it as soon as possible.

I bought a bottle of speed shine and wipe off any bugs and poop after a drive.

Thank you everyone for all of your help and advice! I am waiting for some detailing items to come in and I will make sure I get everything looking perfect. Even take some before and after pics if I remember.

Looks like I will be keeping some speed shine and a cloth in the trunk now. As well as a pellet gun.

I just went and looked at my car fresh off the truck and there is a giant bird poop on the back right top fender. Really no ones fault just bad luck. I pointed it out and they sprung into action. The guy runs over, wipes it off, quick orbital polish, then quick orbital wax...gone. After he wiped it off you could still see the clear coat damage but the orbital buffed it out, just fyi. I get my car fully washed tomorrow!!!!

I have the Griots orbital and it's great; I highly recommend it. But I would wash, polish, and wax your car, should be just fine after that.

This forum is awesome. Just to let you know had the same bird shit situation...scratched the clear coat after cleaning it off.
Received advise here to get the Meguires scratch out. Well it worked amazing.
Worked in the liquid with a micro cloth like 10-12 times. Each time the scatches got lighter and lighter. Didnt even need to orbital, just light elbow grease.
Now the scratches are 99.9% gone.
You guys are great! Thanks for the advise! Also dont rub the birdshit, get the area really wet before cleaning it off.
Also will keep some detailing liquid in trunk for next time.

Where I work there are a lot of Geese. Geese shit aint so good either. Get it off ASAP. I was told to use cold water on a wash rag. then hit it with a little polish. Then get a gun and hunt for the Goose in question.

If I see a Goose gander at my new 1er, it's target practice time.

Treat the car with Zaino - 4 or 5 coats of Z5, Z2 - Clear Spray and you will not have a problem with bird droppings, tar from trees or road grime. It comes right off.

So, yesterday, after work, walking up to my car, I notice an enormous dollop of standard-issue Oregon crow crap. The little SOB carpet bombed my car, direct hit the trunk. While the splat had been there for but 7 hours max, the paint is now quite etched. At least the car wasn't strafed by ravens.

Who doesn't love being shat-on by our feathered friends?

Cheers,
O

I am quick to remove the poops but still notice slight etchings. Nothing stays on more than 8 hours max, but still does its dirty work all over my clear coat.

I feel the same way sometimes not with geese but birds in general. Had washed my car and within a six day period my car got pooped on 4 separate occasions, wiped it off as soon as i can. Its always when you freshly wash and wax.

...PA135i target practice time!

found this on the web ouch!

I keep Bug and Tar Remover close at hand. It emolsifies the bird crap and lifts off the junk off my paint with a light wipe. No scratching and etching.
I just use it instantly as I "usually" am watching my car with a close eye every time, everyday LOL.

Bug and Tar remover is great after any highway driving for cleaning and wiping away bug splats. The bugs will etch your paint just like bird poo. So just keep some kind of detailer close by at all times and always check your car when it's parked outside.

Bug and Tar remover is cheap ($5) and works effortlessly. I just spray it on let it soak in and lightly wipe off. *For bird poo...I wipe it off after it is sprayed and emolsified with the lightest hand swipe to avoid any scratching possibility.
