Suspension Tweaking

Hi Everyone,

I have a challenge that I hope someone can guide me on. My 1m has the original shocks with H&R sport springs. I love the change in stance and feel. About 6 months ago I purchased much wider tires for the rear and now when I have a passenger in the car the right rear rubs. When I measure, the right rear sits around 3/8" lower than the left at rest. I have asked other owners with stock suspension and the reports back is that their car sits with the same "gap" difference between the right and left rear.

Before I go through the effort to purchase coilers with adjustable height I want to know if anyone has any experience with "Coil Spring Spacers" or "COIL SPRING SHIMS" that would sit on top of the rear spring perch.

I note that BMW has this on several previous generation cars with various height / thickness ..... part # 33531094754 for example is 15mm and part # 33531136386 is 7.5mm.

Seems to me that this would be the easiest way to raise the rear a little to resolve my issues ..... your thoughts and wisdom appreciated as always!

Maybe it's time for new shocks. Also, reducing suspension travel by lowering the car is probably the last thing you want to do unless you only drive your 1m on smoothly surfaced tracks.

Shock should have nothing to do with static ride height. H&R supposed to be good product but seems one must be sagging or broken.

I also love my stance with my Eibach springs but do worry about reduced suspension travel and our poor roads.

I took the eibachs off my car and replaced it with the kw sleeve kit as the ride was way to harsh and it unsettled the car on our bumpy roads

The rides smoother and it handles like a dream

And heights can be adjusted to your taste without stuffing the shocks up

On top of the springs get yourself some ground control camber plates, e93 m3 front sway bar and ground control rear suspension arms

And you got a well sorted suspension package for the street with full adjustability

Thank you everyone for your varied replies .... before I do the sleeve kit I'm going to keep researching the shim / spacer solution and if that does not pan out will probably do the H&R coil over. Love this forum .... good folks!
