aFe Cold Air Intake issues...

Anyone have issues with their aFe cold air intake tubing separating from the stock tubing? The rubber seal does NOT want to keep the aFe tubing in place (loose or tight)...

Mine COMPLETELY separated from each other today and threw a SES light...bs.

good thing they have great customer service...new unit being mailed to me free of charge...I wonder if it is faulty?

They also confirmed that they are working on a new seal and will send that to me free of charge as well, aften the project is finished...not ETA for this however...

Gotta love those companies that really care about what they make!

"Hang on to the intake kit and when they get it resolved, I can exchange it for you or if you would rather, return the kit to the place you purchased it from, get a refund and when engineering gets this issue resolved I will get you a really sweet deal on the new kit. At this time it is the only quick solution that I have. No ETA on when this will get resolved. I am sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused you."

I, too, had this issue. It got even worse when I was rear-ended and it knocked everything loose. SES light came and never went away. I had to put the stock intake back on. Now the car is in the shop so hopefully they can fix the SES issue. I emailed the vendor that I got it from (if I type the name of the vendor on here, the forum changes it to a bunch of *'s). They said they forwarded the email to aFe and are waiting on something back. Haven't heard much since.

If you get any updates, can you please let me know? I'll do the same if I hear something.

I talked to someone at aFe and they sent me the "newly" developed plastic tubing and new seals and brackets...I have had it for about 2 months and havent had time to install it, ill get to it this week i hope. my SES light when off after 3 days of highway and city driving and numerous cold starts...my whole system was in shambles just like yours, the big bolt had come loose, separated and caused the SES light...drive around, dont put the OEM filter back on, it will eventually go away...IDK about aFe, I love their stuff but there is never a time when I said "yes! that fits just right!" every time its one issues or another...but thats just the world of aftermarket stuff I guess!

1 clamp that loves to pop off...I put another around it so it crosses over the afe one, has held well for 8k miles no issues...I got my first SES light after doing this last night but the car was in a heated garage for 2 days and when it came outside it was 7 degrees...p10eb was the code and I cleared it...no issues afterwards

Hm. Do you have room to shove a coupler in there? Might give that hose clamp something to bite into.

I had it on for a while, but the seal wasn't great at all. The accident knocked everything loose, I couldn't even get the cuppler close after the accident. Turns out there was a hole in the lower stock intake tubing, which is why my car was throwing "a ton of faults" according to the dealership. I dropped the car off to get repaired with the stock intake on, I put it back on before I did. They replaced the lower intake tubing under warranty, luckily.

Update, just received my new tubing and silicone cupler today. I'll need to get a new metal hose clamp for the cupler before I install it though.
