Under Bonnet Lights
Thought it would be useful to have some lights under the bonnet just in case I need to check the engine when its dark. I pulled apart a set of LED headlights I had lying around these are wired into the front fog light switch that I retro fitted in from a 335i. They are blinding bright and do a great job at night!

is the casing high heat?
i would be worried about the case melting. being over the engine, i have felt the bonnet/hood after a drive, sitting in traffic, it gets hot. well done on the idea, let us know how it works out. |

I like the idea, but I probably would have used another set of lights. Plenty of 12v LEDs out there that are constructed to run 100% duty cycle on their own in crappy temp conditions. I'd be worried about heat, here. Both for the hood and your lights.
