Laguna Seca open track 1/21

Posted in the regional forum but wanted to add it here too just in case people wanted to drive this track.

http://www.ncracing.org/events.php

NCRC has a HPDE on MLK day Monday 1/21 and they still have openings for Open, Point-by, and Solo (No driving school or race groups). Most people are in the Solo group so if you have more than 1 track day you qualify. I believe it's $159 which is dirt cheap for Mazda Raceway.

They do have a fairly strict sound limit (92db) for non-race events, but other than that it is open to most cars including convertibles.

Track temps round this time of year are typically mid 50's and rain is always a possibility, but I wanted to throw this out here if anyone is interested.

I'll be in the Open group so if anyone wants to ride shotgun and learn the track or have me ride shotgun with you just PM me before the event and let me know.

ok why don't you rub it in a little for the rest of us currently experiencing real winter would be there in a heart beat if we could just come up with the star trek tele-transport technology

Tell you what you can drive my car out here if I can drive your car at VIR. That looks like an awesome track.

You could always fly to SF and rent a Mustang GT, Camaro SS or Corvette from Hertz and drive it around the track.

I did it with a 2012 Mustang GT from Hertz when my 1 was getting brakes and it was a blast. Of course I'm pretty sure they would have frowned on the idea had they known.

Four seasons are overrated btw. Our seasons consist of fog/rain season, smog/fire season, and spring. When people talk about snow tires I don't even know what they mean.

haha I know what you mean. I am from the area myself. was born in monterey and lived in walnut creek for many years. I miss the area and still have friends in the bay area and they regularly go to laguna seca and infineon. I need to come down for a visit soon

Ooo that sounds like a pretty tempting deal! I like the way you think! The only issue with doing the rental thing is dealing with crappy brakes haha. I like the safety net of my race spec pads lol.

Chris he offered to swap cars with you. I say that's a fair exchange

I know Kori...I really like the idea of swapping cars sometime. Just a lot of planning to do that I'd say. It'd have to be next year sadly though. This years track season is already being whittled away for me b/c of people getting married and trips I have to take.

Haha, yeah I toasted the brakes on that Mustang after the first session. I just kept the traction control off and drifted the corners. It was like an episode of Top Gear. Yep stock brakes on a Mustang are not track suitable.

The offer stands for both you guys. If we planned it right I'm sure they'll have plenty of open track days this summer at Laguna Seca. Hey, I'm game if you guys are.

NCRC is a good group. I've done a few Laguna events with them. And yes, this track is as awesome as you imagine it is.

Damn I wish I was prepared for this...I'd totally be down but have to get my car finshed first and get a couple track days in...not thinking it'll happen by the 21st

Been to a few superbike races there and have always wanted to run the corkscrew!
