OT: SQ5 or X4 35i

Hi guys.

What's the general consensus with the Audi SQ5 versus the X4 xDrive 35i.

Drove the X4 today and wasn't overly impressed, like the look as it comes standard with the M Sport package, just thought it was a bit blahhh in normal driving conditions.

They both are around 100k OTR.

What about the GLA45?

Personally the SQ5 or the macan would be my pick!

Macan all the way
Having driven it recently it's quite amazing for the type and side of car.

There's an S model due soon to come off the demo fleet if you want something fairly soon here in Melbourne. Not sure if it's still available.
Otherwise I'd go the SQ5.

Thanks for the replies guys and the PM's Raj.

I know the interior on the SQ5 eclipses the X4, and the performance surpasses most mid sized suv's.

Was more interested if anyone has read bad reviews. Everything I found has been overly positive for the SQ5.

Thanks Ian..

Pulling the trigger in the next 4 to 6 weeks.
If it is still available, please Let's me know what sort of $ and Kms are on the S.

They are so hard to come by, I doubt it will last long. There is a S on carsales for $137k plus on roads, with 2k Kms.

I would go with the SQ5 out of the 2 you mentioned. I've driven the X4 and thought the interior was a bit boring. The SQ5 is just a stunning car all around and torque for days.

Joe you have a PM.

Agree about the quality of the interior in the SQ5 and I was thinking of one myself till I read a review that was very critical of the harsh ride. Couldn't verify it myself as they didn't have a demo. If the ride is acceptable for a buyer then it's difficult to justify the extra expense for the Macan over the Audi.
Then again it's difficult to justify the expense for anything that costs more than say a GTi Golf.
Luckily I've gone off that SUV moment ( what was I thinking? ) and have the domestic approval for an AMG GT next year. Now that's a car that's impossible to justify, though there is an issue of practicality in that a 911 or a Jag F type won't carry my sticks.

I'd go Macan if you can wait.

X4 wasn't out when I got my X3 3.0d, but did try SQ5. SQ5 is definitely faster and nicer interior, other than that I found the steering lifeless and could feel the extra weight. It actually felt as heavy as my previous e53 X5. Oh, and the ride is too stiff.

I've driven the SQ5 again after the first few months with the X3, happy with my decision still. Macan next when time to upgrade though.

I called Porsche again today but the sales guy I dealt with is on leave.
I had the macan for two days and if you're to trade the 1M for something a bit more practical I can understand going for a Macan. It's a very impressive car to drive and just does everything so well. In the end I decided on a Boxster, so much for practicality!
As has been said, the X4 is just so boring on the inside.

From memory the car had under 5k kms and priced at about $117k, it had most options fitted.
With such a demand for them, it was list price for the demo model, available Nov.
