I've got one on order too - also likely one of the last TRUE BMW's. Pick up is July 20 in Munich

What I ordered:
2013 128i (duh)
-Carbon Black Metallic (apparently a 2013 color only?)
-Black Boston leather
-Aluminum trim
-6MT
-M Sports Package (ZMP)
-No sunroof (slick-top!)

Super excited. This will be my first BMW and ED as well!

Be really careful for the first 200-300 miles until you heat cycle the tires a few times and wear off the slippery outer layer. It felt like I was driving on ice for a while.

Be careful on the Autobahn because your speed limiter is set to 155 MPH. Mine went to 135 MPH in a heartbeat. I would have pushed it further if it had more miles on it.

Take the warning triangle and first aid kit out when you drop off the car or they won't be there at redelivery. Tell your local dealer to leave the Euro plates on the car or they will dissapear.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'm doing PCD, so apparently they're nice about letting you keep the plates? The Bimmerfest wiki has a nice little courtesy reminder form to ask that the plates be left - anyone know if they work?

The latest news is that you need to take the mounting brackets for the warning triangle out before you drop off the car. Apparently the delivery center is removing them because they don't belong on a USA car.

Would I be correct to assume that I'd better order mine this weekend if I want one? I thought production was ending later on this year.

Wish I had the cold weather package.

Nice score on the last great BMW that holds true to all the classic values. You will love it. Make sure to swing into the N52 engine section as that is where most of the 128i discussion happens. Lots of good pioneering recently.

Production is ending this month, you might already be too late.

An CA told me that production ends in october. But, order slots are limited. I'd get in now, and in fact I did.

Missed this, awesome choice. Make sure to do a proper 1200 mile break in period.

Carbon black is a pretty fascinating color.

6MT

This is going to be my first car ever and my first manual transmission car as well! Got my first full time job after university a year and a half ago, paid most of my student loans, and saved up enough money for a sizeable down payment before I pulled the trigger. Can't wait! For now I'm just reading up as much as I can on doing proper maintenance and detailing so I can baby the car when I get it. Hoping to keep this car a long time.

Congrats. You sound like a smart guy! After driving my new 128i 1500 miles through Europe for 4 days I have to say it's an amazing ride and you're going to love it! I can't wait for it to arrive stateside!
