Have to wait until the 19th though as still can't decide between vert and coupe. Coupe with sunroof is winning though! Now I've booked an appointment on the 19th to see them and place the order and put the money down then. Finally time to join the BMW brotherhood

Thanks for everyone's help.
Saphire Black is the way to go. I have had Bma's in the past and they have always been black. Totally eye catching and always being admired by onlookers. Good luck with your purchase.

I've been using Gran Turismo to check out the colours. Brilliant use for the video game

Another question I have is; Do we have break in our engines? Looking at the yanks, they're all breaking in until 1200 miles. Surely we don't have to do that in AU? I haven't had to break in a car engine since the last bloody ford we bought in 1989!

breaking in the engine is a controversial subject. I don't want to join the debate in anyway, BUT, I wont be fanging her till shes got around 2000K's on the clock...

I won't be baby-ing the car, no would I be silly about it. Typically what I would do is to ensure that the engine is ALWAYS warm before applying any rev above 3000rpm. In the first 500km, I will take it easy and not revving over 3500rpm often and not going crazy on the speed. This is to help all the mechanical parts break in, not just the engine. But importantly, once in a while I will take it to 4000-5000rpm. Once I get past 500km I will introduce higher revs more often, but probably not over 5000rpm. Once I get past 1000km, I will go close to redline once in a while till I hit about 1500km, then I will be breaking lose. This sort of gradual approach works better than a sudden approach. I have owned at least one new car a year since I was 21, and this approach has never failed me.

The way I look at it is - how long are you going to keep the car for - 5 years max? You're going to get sh*t for it when you trade it in. I've learned that lesson...I babied my 06 530i Msport - got less than market value when I traded it on the 135i 16 months later. It had 16,000 on the clock and not a scratch, dent or otherwise. The buggers moved it quickly and made about 13k on it. My 07 130i gets a caning now and I enjoy it everyday. It's going when the 135i arrives in July. I know I'll get bugger all for it so why let the second hand dealer benefit from my love and care?

Anyway...I thought these engines came "run in" already. I'm looking forward to hearing that twin turbo at the red line!

In the meantime.....thrash the 135i on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue!!

BTW - if anyone has played GT5P and is in Class B - how the hell do you get the Integra Type-R to at least 3rd place in the one lap high speed ring challenge??? Best I can get to is 8th.

I've been using GT5P to drive each colour and check it out. Yes, I'm a nerd, but damn it's a nice way to pass the time.

The trick to getting 1st place is:
a) drafting as much as possible to keep your speed as high as possible
b) smallest, smoothest steering movements possible. Come up behind a car drafting behind it and use a gentle flick to swing out past it at the last minute, then another to swing back in front of it and hopefully behind another car in which you can draft.

Hey guys, I've come over from the Detail Addiction forum. Went to Stillwells today to get a pricing on the 135i, I was hoping to get LeMans blue, but then Smarm was telling me about the Jet Black a few days ago, now i can't decide between the two.
Was thinking just getting the standard car, with the upgraded stereo (maybe) pushing the budget already with the Mrs with the car as is. Just wanted to know, how much the dealer delivery is for these cars? as with stamp duty i'm thinking about $75,000 very roughly. Got quoted today at 81,000 on road or $82500 with stereo. Thats almost $10k more! I couldn't believe it. Might have to give the car a miss now was getting quite excited. Does that sound right to you guys?

You can shop around dealers but you will find their wont be much discounting..If they discount the add ons they will slug you with dealer charges.
I am assuming you have been quoted in non metalic paint and 6SM?Any other options?

The price sound ok. The base price of the car is $70400, you have about $3500 Luxury car tax, $3800 Stamp duty and the rest would be delar charges

Which company do you work for? Your company may be part of a BMW corporate program. This will give you 50% discount on dealer charges, 2 years free service and a reasonable discount.

The price I have been quoted is a bit better than what you'e been quoted however, my price has sunroof and metallic paint which would add about $4300 to the price.

i didn't really wish to get involved with a purchase price war against all the dealers, however if it helps try Adam Jackson Mornington BMW 5970 5970, you never know your luck.

All the best with it.
