OT: Apartment Alarm is a bitch!
So the Mrs. headed off to her place about 1am.
Went down to the carpark to see her off (chivalry dead my ass) and came back with all the power gone. The fuse box wasn't tripped, so reset it anyway. Suddenly the alarm arms! I go over and type in my code. "Code Error". did it again very slowly. "Code Error". BAMN, strobe light goes off and the whole apartment is like a disco for the very hearing impaired. 30 seconds later the piercing sound makes me sick and i jump outside to call strata. 24 hours? No way. False advertising there, nobody picks up and the call diversion goes to voicemail. I call Bosch who run my security system and their 24 hour service goes to an office voicemail. Left message. After 30 minutes of this god forsaken noise it stops, with the alarm still flashing and the head unit beeping at me whenever i move. So, looks like tomorrow i'll be upgrading to a back-to-base system so i can at least have the thing turned off when i need it. Gah, rant over. |

The last time our system went off, I just pulled the cover off the control panel, killed the mains power at the switch and pulled the lead off the back up battery (very important or else the bloody thing will still go off). That shut it up quickly. Monitoring company rang about a minute later.
The hardest part was trying to keep focused with a million dB driving a hole in your brain!

Must be the week for it. My alarm went nuts late last week. Started with a random beep and then the control panel went nuts. I called my alarm guy and left a message at 9pm he called me back in 15 mins apologizing for missing my call. He suggusted he could charge me a $160 call out fee or he could walk me through a few things. We ended up solving, back up battery just neded a change which he walked me through as straight forward. now that is service.

Just murderous. I'm currently back in the apartment hiding in Zone 2, cause Zone 1 is alarmed.
Every single time i walk through the kitchen or lounge room the key panel unit just beeps and beeps and beeps. But still better than the alarm. It really does drive a hole in your brain! Will call Bosch now and get the whole thing reset. |

Hmm a set of Bose silent comfort 3's would probably help drone out the sound right about now......
