Weird noise after Berk Race install

I bought a used Berk Race axel back and it sounds AMAZING paired with my 4" catless downpipe. It sounds like every lost soul has escaped hell and entered my engine. So more on that later.

However, I noticed theres a very faint whining noise now. It's almost hard to hear but if you turn the music down you can hear a whine and I have no idea what it is. My friend said it could be a fuel pump but I'm not sure. What do you guys think?

Garage List
Not sure if this is the same issue but it may be:

According to that thread, earlier Berk exhausts had the french horn problem and since you bought used it may be one of those models. The problem has been corrected though and any and all new exhausts that Berk sells don't have that issue.

It doesn't seem to be that. This sounds electronic and will change tones.

You sure you're not just hearing the turbo spool up?

Haha yeah. Although I can hear that too! It almost sounds as if something is wrong with the speakers after I installed the exhaust.

FYI, it ended up being the exhaust flapper. I never disconnected the plug so I guess it was constantly trying to read the signal! So for the future, the plug is in your trunk on the left side. You're going to want to remove the carpeting to get to it.

Hey I need to hear your set up soon tony...I want to run something more aggressive soon and I want to see the potential sound although I think the N55 produces a better exhaust note

I have the same problem, its definitely coming from the electronics in the car, seems to be related to the exhaust flap control. Im gonna take a stab at unplugging the connection in the trunk like you mentioned. Did this throw a CEL??? You are talking about the electronic plug in the trunk correct? Not the vacuum line?

OK so I just pulled the corner carpet out (VERY easy to do) and found the exhaust flap control device. It is a small plastic device with an electrical plug coming out of the top and the vacuum line coming out of the bottom. I simply unplugged the electrical plug at the top and the high pitched whine is now completely gone. No CEL either (yet, only started the car in my driveway, have yet to do a full drive test).

Thought I might post some info and pics for future reference, surprised this doesnt happen to all aftermarket cat-backs (or maybe it does but have only seen this thread posted about the issue).

Here are some pics documenting the fix:

Here is what the device looks like with the trunk carpet pulled back

Here I unplugged the electrical exhaust plug (the black rubber tube w/ green stripe down the side is the vacuum line.

Here is what the plug looks like when detached.

Hope this helps anyone else experiencing this whining noise.
