Tire Wear - 135i
This is not a trick question, so please do not fill this thread with tire burning stories
I recently put a for sale ad on this forum for my 135i. While taking pictures of the wheels, I noticed that the tread on the fronts looked good. My inspection of the rears was not too good since the rears are in a fixed position and the wheel wells are close. I went to Indy to have tread depth measured properly. I have 8/32 on both fronts and 5/32 on both rears. I do not (knowingly) spin the rear tire. Also, since the 135 does not have a posi rear, I would expect the drive wheel to have less tread. Tires are Continental Conti's with 19,000 miles So, is it usual for the rears to wear faster than the fronts? If you believe so, what do you believe is the reason. Thanks, Al |

On a rear wheel drive car the rear tires will always wear quicker than the fronts.
After all the rear wheels are propelling the car!
