Finally have E91 - quick ?

Please point me to a thread or give me a quick heads-up on this one item. Regards personal settings in a non-IDRIVE/NAV car. I want to change the unlock procedure. I want all doors to unlock upon first touch rather than having to hit it twice - give me some feedback please. Sorry to be so short and not posting pictures but my son is in the hospital. Just trying to pass some time during tests. Thanks again in advance for all of your help.

Isn't that kind of thing listed in the owner's manual?

It isn't hard to set up. You need the car to be on and in Park. You use the little lever on the front of the turn signal stalk. Push it up until you see a key with a check mark, then push the button on the end of the turn signal. Then push the lever on the front of the turn signal again until you come to an icon that looks like four slashes (they represent the doors). It should look like the upper left slash is open. This is the setting for just the driver door to unlock. Push the button at the end of the turn signal stalk again, then push the lever on the front of the turn signal stalk until all the slashes look like they are open. Then push the button on the end of the stalk again to select that option. That is it.

If you have your owner's manual with you, there are instructions in there on how to do this with pictures that make everything much clearer.

By the way, that key with the check mark icon is where you set a whole lot of options on the car. It is where you pick whether you want daytime running lights, whether you want the power seats to automatically move to the position associated with the fob when you open the door or unlock the door, whether you want the blinker to blink once or three times when you just barely push it, whether you want the doors to autolock (and when you want them to do so), etc.

sdorn's answer is good, so no need to elaborate.

Hope your son is okay - speedy recovery!

Why don't you cut the guy some slack, like he said, he's just passing time. Maybe trying to take his mind off of things for a moment to relax by coming to e90post, more than likely sitting at the hospital nervously if he's waiting for tests.

E24, Congrats on finally getting you E91.
My prayers for you and your son.

I wasn't trying to be an ass. Just directing him/her to where to find the answer.

All is well...

I apologize for the delay in posting a response. Thank you for the comments and concern.

It's a long story and I'm not going into it. Long story short - as in the subject line - all is well. These hospitals LOVE/ADORE people with decent insurance. That's yet another subject. My son is well.

Thanks to all for the input. I just haven't found the time to change the locking procedure nor did I have the owner's manual in hand when posting. They reside/resided in my night stand drawer (that booklet that doesn't fit in the GD glove box). When you take your almost 4 year old to the hospital at 3am - you don't think to grab the owner's manual.

LEDZEP - thanks for the private message. Just have been too tired to respond. Being lazy I guess.

Looks like we lost a very close friend in a car accident tonight so I think I will be up late.

Thanks again for the concern and sorry it took me so long to respond. I really appreciate your positive wishes and look forward to posting some E91 pics soon (just not a priority).
