little green light next to headlight switch is blinking
so I got my car wash to get the salt off and got back in to my car and noticed the adaptive headlights error was on. So I went to the front of my car to see if there was any condensation in either head lamp and there wasn't any ( this was while it was still light out)..so I went back to work and when I was done I got back in to my car and turn it on and got the damn error again so I turned on my head lights and seen that my drive side HID is out. It is the same side I just had them re calibrate because it was point high..
Anyway anyone have any ideas? |

Put your stock OE AE bulbs back in and then take it to your dealer. Otherwise you run the risk of your dealer voiding your headlight warranty. Dackel |

I don't think so. IF that were the case... you would just have a bulb error message. The OP has a dynamic headlight error. So... he probably needs atleast a new headlight and a new bulb. He probably damage the seal to the back of the headlight when he installed his M-tech AE bulbs. Hence his condensation comment. You are looking at a $1.5K plus repair if its COD, I would not take that risk. Put your OE AE bulbs back in and take it back into your dealer. I suspect the reason your HID bulb failed was bc of moister getting into your light. Wether you can see the condensation or not. When you remove the HID xeon bulb - you will know for sure. G.L.

I had replaced my angel eyes about 2 months ago with ZERO problems until now. So today I go to one of those touchless car washes with the undercarriage wash, I go thru it, come out and I get the symbol for adaptive head light failure. I didnt really know what that meant until I got home, but before I got home I went to sears, I come out and its dark, turn the car on and only one headlight comes on, then zero light...I then get the lowbeam headlight failure HUD display and im driving around at night with just the angel eyes..
So I got out, both headlights had a shitload of condensation in them and neither low beams worked after several tries. So I had to get fucking AAA to tow my ass home cuz i cant drive 20 miles with no headlights So now, of course this shit happens on a saturday, dealer isnt open till monday and I dont even know if theyre be able to fuckin look at the car then or not, they damn well better though. I cant drive at night and I need it fixed, I work evenings so I cant drive with it otherwise. Like the other dood said, Im sure my dealer will give me shit cuz I changed out the angel eyes and they will say that its all my fault blah blah. Personally I think it was the undercarriage wash, somehow it mustve shot water up into the headlight assemblies and shorted the fuses or the bulbs or both, I have no idea. I was thinking about going out and trying to mess with the fuses or the headlights tonight but theres just no fucking way. I wouldnt know what Id be doing and Im sure id prob just fuck something up even more so Im hoping the dealer can take care of this. Anyone have any issues like this with theres before?? |

put the stock bulbs back in or they will give you shit.. when that happened to be the replaced the whole head lamp and it was expensive! but since i put stock bulbs back in they replaced it for free.
after getting the car back I put the mtec bulbs back in and noticed i didnt shut the back cover correctly, and had to re doit.. so i am guessing i screwed up the cover and went though the car wash so of course water got in it. Quote:

but you do realize that you probably left the covers loose when you swapped the bulbs the first time... hence why they filled with water when washed.... Those covers are a pain to get back on, on sometimes they "feel" like they are on, but in fact they are not.. Most of the control units sit at the bottom of the headlamp housing . jut my .02

Yea so I had my dealer look at it this morning, everything is stock, but I missed the goddamn clips in the way back behind the lamps where its hard to see. So they said they need the car tomorrow to take pictures for their "bmw engineer" who is telling them what to do about all this. Basically Ive told them ive never touched the headlamps, I even played off that when I opened the hood right after they failed to look at the headlamps I only saw the front metal clamps behind and thought everything was fine with the fitment as I didnt even know about the ones way back. Service advisor seemed to buy it but we'll see, I really hope they do because there is NO way im going to be paying 3 grand for fuckin headlights on a car im gonna be trading in in a month anyways..

Anyone have any other ideas for me here on out? I mean I give it a 50/50 chance of them either saying yes or no to warranty coverage, if they deny it, should I just have them repair it, charge it to my card and call bmwna and argue that they need to pay for it? I dont really know how more else I can show that the car is stock and hasnt been fucked with other than the 2 clips being ajar, but I wouldnt really think that just those clips would be nuff proof for them to not cover the replacement at all. I mean what if my clips that hold in my taillights or something else had come loose and they were damaged, etc. regardless of how "uncommon" it is to bmw |

Good luck. I think BMWNA is catching on to this issue with people changing the bulbs so it could go either way. I spent considerable time making sure the covers were on correctly (cut the hell out of my hands in the process, PITA).
