When to install winter tires in Denver
So, I just moved back to colorado after being away for two years. I had a truck before so this wasn't an issue. I know how the weather can be here, 30 one day and 70 the next. So, any suggestions on when to put my winter setup on?

I usually take the summer tires off my WRX by the middle of November. Of course with the weather here, you never know when it may snow.

well it looks like we have a possibility of snow this week, plus colder temps. should i switch to the winter tires now cause the summers are bad in cold temps? i know from the past that there is a decent chance it will get warm again and don't want to ruin my winter tires if it gets too warm. i drive from longmont to denver every day so I put decent miles on too.

I heard it may snow as well, but it really isn't cold enough yet for the snow to start sticking to the roads. The summer tires can be bad in cold temps, but as long as the roads aren't soaking wet, slushy, or snowy, I doubt it will be much of a problem. Are your winter tires on a different set of rims? If so, you can switch between the sets of tires whenever you want.

Yeah, that's probably a wise idea. I didn't realize we're supposed to get snow this weekend as well.

Yeah chances of snow are better on sat than today... Now my big worry is the TWO rock chips I got from ONE stone on my windshield. I talked to one company that said they could fix it today but it would have to sit inside for a while to set correctly.

Bummer about the chips in the windshield. It's almost unavoidable living here.

These chips are #2 and 3 since I moved back in april. I have someone coming to hopefully repair them this afternoon. I put my winter rims on this morning to be safe. We better get snow now.

We got a little bit of snow, but nothing to affect the roads at all.

I finally got around to putting mine on today. Might be able to get away with another couple weeks without any snow accumulating, but the runflats were getting pretty cranky with cold temps.
