Alpine White vs. Titanium Silver
I can't decide which color I want...It seems like everyone and their mom is gettting AW, and Titanium silver looks amazing (AW does too though), but it is a $475 option!! (Ridiculous). Which do you prefer?

If you do an Internet search on popular car colors, you'll find that silver is a VERY popular color. So much so that seemingly every other car is silver. But then, white has been very popular, too.
(Note that in the infoplease data that white isn't so popular for Sport/Compact cars -- do we consider the 1-series a Sport/Compact?) |

TiAg was my choice. I find it very elegant and classically German. White is great too, but at least in terms of 1 addicts, it is more common. Here's a shot of mine.

If you love both, go with the tiag. There may be more silver cars out there, but not silver 135i's. I agree that everyone and their mom is getting the AW, and a lot combined with coral. The car looks good in any color option though. The colors that gives it the most justice is not white, its the colors that have the right metallic in it to bring out those nice lines and sweeps and bulges. Examples would be the, soon to be late, SGM and also your BSM, even the Sedona brings it out very well and has as much character as your SGM. The next down the list I would have to say is Blue water or whatever it is called, for some reason it just grabs at you in the sunlight. The rest of the colors are pretty much the same, the non metalics of course being the lowest on my list for the body style of this car.
But hey, for all you know I'm just some crazy guy with his own opinion. I am very influenced by design work and photography though. (<-- thats my two cents) Whatever you feel though, you feel you need to save the pennies right now, go with the white then. |

Oh want to add something, if they had the white with a nice pearl to it, that would be really nice then. Pearl it so at certain angles some of the hard edges would turn to a slight Blue water (still dont know the official name for it), but maintain a nice shiny clean white. That would be truly amazing, and would show off its shape very well. (I guess its not longer my two cents, I'd say about 25 cents worth if im lucky )

I choose the one that's free... and between black, white, and red, Alpine White looked best on the 1er.
RobLS - Pearlescent is very hard to match, especially when it comes to repair. If you don't bring it to BMW, most other places will miss the shade by a hair, which will make a BIG difference. |

I thought I wanted AW, but then I saw a montego blue 135 in the flesh and I really liked it. It looks good on the 135 in the same way that Estoril Blue looked good on the E36 M3...it just sort of works on the car, and it's a shade of blue that you don't see often. (of course, Estoril on a 135 might look good...or maybe not). Not sure if I really want it or not, though. Some people have posted CR pics and that looks HAWT too...so many choices! It would be nice if dealers would actually have some in stock that weren't all black verts so that I could take a look at the differet colors. |
