Walnut blasting equipment in Sydney
I don't particularly want to pay $500 to get this done so does anyone have the equipment that I could rent from them for a weekend?

Lol I don't want to pay $500. And if I was to get advan to install my inlets and 10 other parts.. I might as well leave my leg and arm there lol
I'd prefer to get it done there but it will be too expensive for me Last edited by dh58; 08-29-2015 at 06:58 PM.. |

If you were in Melbourne I could help you out, I've just finished collecting up all the bits for a walnut blast set.
Do you already have a shop vac and air compressor? If so that covers a large cost of the tools needed. You can get a sodablasting airtank and n54 adapter for around 250-300 total. Gaskets are around $70 and shells are $50 Can pm you all the links if you need.

Only $34 for four hours which is easily enough time. You can take apart the intake, go out and hire it, then return it when you have everything back together. Ultimately you will probably only end saving $100 or so from the $500 figure. But if course you end up with a kick ass tool and you'll be able to do it again later for very little money. For me, I plan on doing other cars as well which help me recoup some cash. Also plan on doing mine after 1 year and see how much buildup accumulates over 10,000kms (just out of curiosity).

Heres the build thread for my blaster: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1161290 Prices change all the time on ebay. Just search for 'sand blaster' or 'soda blaster' on ebay and buy the cheapest media blaster that runs off a big steel tank (around $140 or so). I got the one with a blue tank. Walnut shells can be bought from Radum in melbourne: http://radum.com.au/catalog/product_...oducts_id=6494 have to email them for a shipping quote which is a bit of a pain but they respond quickly via email. Blast adapter link: https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E88-13....0L/ES2165972/ Shipping is a bit expensive so might want to combine it in a big order. My vaccuum cleaner did not fit on the blasting adapter and I had to cut the inside diameter of the aldi vac's adapter on my lathe. You could probably just use a ton of duct tape to get everything to fit. You can also get plastic 3d printed adapters from bimmerhelp: http://www.bimmerhelp.info/Buy_Blasting_Tools.html From my experience with 3d printed parts I am not sure if this would last a long time. The layers are usually not that strong and can be prone to delaminating. I am sure it will be fine for occasional use but I needed something that would last since I am doing other people's cars as well. I bought an air duster off ebay for the nozzle and made my own 1/4->1/8" npt fitting adapter to put it on the hose: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161515489...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Works well but I think it would be nice if the nozzle was bent for easier use.
