Bubbles in dashboard

I bought my '09 135i a week ago. Yesterday was the first truely sunny, warm day. When went out to the car at lunch, there were several bubbles on the dashboard, just behind the windshield.

One was 2" by 1" and maybe 1/2" high. Clearly something in the foam underneath had outgassed and pushed up the covering.

Is this a known defect?

The only upside is it is warranty work. I bought the car from CarMax and the service guy I worked with said there is both their 30 day warranty (which covers everything) and still two months of BMW warranty on the car. So, one way or another, it will be covered by warranty.

Could be a thick layer of product they used to make the dash look new. Take some isopropyl alcohol mixed with water on a towel and wipe it on the dash. See if the towel picks up residue. I have never heard of bubbles forming on the dash

I don't mean bubbles like soap bubbles, but like a large raised area of the dashboard cover itself. I'll see if I can get a pic of it.

Here it is. This is the 2" by 1" bubble.

make sure you take it to them right away before the bubbles go down. you dont want your warranty to run out before it is fixed.

I drove over to CarMax as soon as I saw this just because I was worried of the bubbles smoothing out. When I got there, I left the car parked in the sun so all the bubbles showed. The service guy right away agreed it was a defect and the dashboard had to be replaced.
