keep in mind that's for panels only, not paint, not upgrades, definitely not exhaust and required body modifications.
I'm sure mybad135 will chime in his costs down the road but I'm sitting at somewhere between 3-4x that number for the whole mod.

oh yea i read up on the 1M mod last night and you better have deep pockets and a lot of time to invest. the plus side is you can rest knowing you did all the work in making your car a masterpiece but the downside is you can go and get a 1M for cheaper than a 135 and a conversion. youre paying for the name in my opinion, same reason that an axleback muffler delete for our cars is north of 450 bucks

Tony135i, mybad135i and venom had insurance claims which mitigated a good portion of the cost of their builds. I think I am the only one of the group who is fully funding their build. If you add the money I spent on my 135i, all of the mods up to date and the cost of the 1M build, I would sit around a stock 1M msrp. Keep in mind all of the money spent was over several enjoyable years learning and building my car up to where it is now. So yes, if I took all of the money spent over the last few years on modding my 135i and the cost of the car and threw on the cash to do the 1M conversion I could have bought a 1M. However, that isn't how everything worked out. To sell and part my car and buy a 1M at the current market value, it would cost me about $20k more than I am spending now to convert my car and only for an extremely similar car. I already have M3 suspension parts and a diff.

Yes my car will not be a true 1M, yes my car will not be limited to 740 in the US, but I am not looking at this thing as an investment, rather just a really fun project to build and enjoy to drive. I think Tony135i, Mybad135i and Venom all share that mindset.

oh yea i totally understand. thats why i said the upside is knowing you really invested your time, which to me isnt as important as a monetary investment. its always good to know you have a truly unique car and that youre the one that made it that way. built not bought is the way to go

yeah when i get total cost ill relay that number but like venom said paint and labor make the cost go to 10K+ easy if you dont have insurance funding some of the bill

Mybad135i, did you cut your vents off on the GTR bumper? Your car is going to look so legit with everything painted up.

The taped off vent parts of the hood looked deeper for some reason. I cant wait to see this whole thing finished.

Man, I was hoping to be the first one to do this in Montego. But I'm still several months away from having the money to take the leap. Maybe this summer...

I used to have a Montego Blue 135i and ended up selling it to a buddy after I took delivery of my Valencia Orange 1M. Even though I love my orange 1M, I still miss the hell out of that blue 135i.

Here's a picture of the two brothers together before they were split apart (more pics here):

I wish they had offered a 1M in Montego Blue, then my life would have been complete! I still dream of one day wrapping my 1M in that color.

Anyways, congrats on the build! I cannot wait to see this dream machine!

body all painted and starting to wet sand it, both bumpers are painted, the hood is open so ignore the gaps on both sides, it meets up nice when closed
