it's an option that you can order for when you purchase it from the dealer
if it's 2nd handed then you'd have to check whether you have the satellite option in your audio.. if not you can retrofit it.

Make sure if you want it that you spec it in your order, it's now $350 as a factory option. Price to install it in my "pre-wired" '08 135? $1027, per my local parts department. I had a drink in my hand at the time, I'm glad I wasn't in mid-gulp or I would have choked and spit it up all over their counter
I now have a Pioneer XMP3 residing beneath the armrest that I picked up at Best Buy for $130 that runs through the Aux jack, no complaints here with the quality of that unit, plus I didn't have to take out a 2nd mortgage on my place to buy it. |

I have the Sirius car receiver that you can get at Best Buy for under $50 under the arm rest, playing through the AUX Port. I placed the antennae on the parcel shelf, and ran the antennae wire up to the arm rest uder the seat. It works and sounds great.

Angry... do you have any issues with reception with your unit or no? I like your setup but just want to make sure that is OK before I go buy one. You can see the channels and stuff pretty well also right?

I'll try to help a bit.
I have a retrofit XM unit similar to above in my Ford Focus. I ordered my '09 128 with Sirius. I find the reception in the BMW to be somewhat better, very good in fact. However, the reception in the Focus is still quite acceptable. It only craps out when I'm driving through a deep roadside cut, between a lot of tall buildings, or in a deeply-wooded area. I've been to DC plenty of times, and I think that you would be OK there. Do experiment with antenna location. Angry, what was your drink of choice at the time? ; ) |

I just found out through the dealer that my 2010 135i isn't prewired for satellite radio. I pulled out the carpet and they were right - no Sirius plug. Pitiful.
