Hi dh58,
Some databases don't differentiate between the different 1' er body styles. The coupe is an E82, the vert an E88 and the hatch an E87.

I don't think that was what he was asking.

Yes, it seems that all 1 series has been labelled e87. Could be due to couple of reasons. 1st is that BMW Australia for some reason or other wanted to bring it in as an e87. 2nd reason may be because the people working at the ADR are incompetent and cannot differentiate between the different models when it came to compliancing. The e87 hatch obviously came out first and they have decided that ALL 1 series is an e87.

Thank you x5mad.. That is exactly what I needed to know.

Appreciated!!

Mattyv: I know the difference between the e82 e87 e88, that's why I was asking. Since mine is a e82 and it had on it e87.

OIC, sorry mate.

I had the same issue crop up when I was setting up the car with my insurer. It came out as an E87 and that was all they had in their system.
