I'd gladly pay $45k for a 1M/M1. I actually like keeping my car stock and enjoying it for what it is ( most of the time :-) ). Oh, and actually being able to last through a 30 minute session on the track @ 95 degree weather with an oil temp just a hair above the 210 mark is priceless ( especially when the 335 had to leave the session early because of technical issues ).

Yes but inside every car is also the sole [as a matter of speaking] of the people who made it, and brought it to market. I like the sig, just thought I would add that to the thought, just for the moment.

If the M1 does actually make it to the marketplace, I'd say that $49K is priced just about right. I paid around $37k for mine two years ago(Tax,tag, title, etc. just under $40K). If I had gotten an M3, it would have probably been around $70k the way I would have optioned it.. $50K is price right between the two, so I would say that's right where BMW will price it. Take a $40k 135i, add ten grand for "M" tuning, and you have the M1.
Also, I was reading some thread earlier about naming the M1. BMW would be insane to name it anything else just for consistency sake with the rest of the M line. The original M1 was not mass produced. To have loyalty to that doesn't make business sense to me. The new "Z" has an insane name even though I love the car. "Z4 sdrive35is" That's crazy....... |
