Ok when you pull the washer lever, my manual says:

"When the vehicle's lights are switched on, the headlights are cleaned simultaneously at practical intervals."

Any guesses on what the German engineers mean by "practical intervals"?

For VW Golf's, it's every pull of the washer lever when the lights are on, and every 5th time when they're off. So I'm guessing every 4-5th time

Don't unplug them. The washers are there for a reason.

So they can spray cleaning fluid all over the clean headlights and clean car?

I know why they are there. It just sucks that they go off so frequently as I'm super anal at how clean the windscreen should be so I spray it ever time I get in it

If you don't want the headlight washers to go off, turn your light switch off (ie: vertical position). If you leave the switch in the auto (11o'clock position) the headlamp washers will activate if you activate the windscreen washer and your lights are on.

Every time hubby gets in my car he puts the head lights on and with in the first 10 mins has used the windscrene wipers about 20 times!!!! It really annoyes me, because the headlight washers spray crap all over the car. But he is obsessed with having a clean windscrene. hehehe

Don't be surprised if the car doesn't start throwing error codes once you disconnect. Break wind in one of these things and it throws an error code!

Hi i can tell you know that if u want to stop the windows from coming half way down after pressing unlock twice u get in put them both up with the key in ofcourse and then memorize it on 1 or 2 on side of driver seat - i just had my car back from BMW for CAS change /reprogrammed and window motor for driver door replaced and i never encountered that issue until after that work was done. So is it normal for windows to got half way down if the last lock was set with them up definately NO... on that note i like the idea of pressing unlock 2 times to open passenger side but dont like that window coming down half way... back to BMW tomorrow for another issue "engine malfunction" light coming on maybe its the HPFP.

Recapping what I have had my car in for so far in 9 months:

1. Cracked brake light cover on boot
2. EWS control Unit replaced
3. Control Unit for driver window (anti-trap function failure)
4. Now Engine Malfunction light (yellow) shows when i gun it (booked in for tomorrow)

I think i bought a lemon now!!!

thanks for ur suggestion kingtut, but my problem was already fixed simply by changing the 'unlock mode' from 'convenience' to 'drivers door' in the options menu.
